Reflections on the Christian Faith
Taking the in-depth analysis that Fr. Raymond E. Brown provided in the monumental work The Death of the Messiah and distilling it into insightful descriptions of Scriptures that we celebrate during Holy Week this small volume is the primary source for discussion in Bible Study, Liturgical Planning, RCIA preparations and personal reflections for deepened Spirituality of the central narration of our Christian Faith.

Small but very detailed
I enjoyed studying this during my Lenten meditations. Although it is a small book, it's pages are packed with information. I was amazed at every turn of the page. I highly recommend this little study.

"the sanest possible book you could read" about this topic
These are not my views, I must admit, but rather those of Rev. Mark Stanger, an Episcopal priest at San Francisco's Grace Cathedral. In an interview published at salon.com in January 2004, he said,'If people want to read something sensible about this whole thing, Raymond E. Brown -- he died about a year ago -- was a great, great Catholic scripture scholar. He wrote a mega-work called "The Death of the Messiah" in 1994 -- two volumes, 1,600 pages. But then he digested [it] down and did a little tiny popular work, a $5 paperback, 71 pages, called "A Crucified Christ in Holy Week." I think that would be the sanest possible book anyone could ever read.'

Raymond Brown at his best
Raymond Brown was able to be succinct in this series from his life's work of volumes and volumes of text. Here he brings it home in bite sized portions that gets to the heart of Christ's ministry, message, and mission.

Superb scholarship
One of a series of seven small books by the late Raymond Brown: distilled scholarship. I have given the set as gifts in the past.

A crucified Christ in Holy Week
Raymond E Brown is a super scholar and writer on Scripture. This book, like his other short surveys of the Nativity, the Passion and the Community of the Beloved Disciple, is a very good read and opens fuller perspectives on the topics covered. Not all of us can see the events of the four gospel accounts so comprehensively and Brown is a guide I would strongly recommend.
