Catalina Boots Faster on my iMac 19,2
Using the Glyph Atom SSD as an external boot disk, my Mac boots from the Apple insignia to logon complete in about 45 seconds. That time does not include password entry. This is about a 20 second improvement over other external SSD's and WAY faster than the internal HD that came with the computer. I run Xcode which is a huge application that can take hours for verification on a internal HD after a nuke and pave MacOS installation, but with the Glyph drive that process was barely noticeable. (That verification process brings my Mac to a crawl.) The Glyph Atom SSD is a bit pricey but I am enjoying the performance improvement. Just thought I would put this out there.I would like to add that I have FileVault turned on for this Glyph boot disk.

Fantastic speeds, as useful as an internal SSD drive
I have a 2017 MacBook Pro that was running out of laptop drive space. A lot of it was used by a VirtualBox Windows 10 VM, so I figured if I could migrate that VM to an external drive then I would both free up laptop drive space and also make the VM accessible from my second work MacBook Pro.I first tried exporting and importing the VM using a Samsung USB 3.2 external drive: SAMSUNG T7 Touch Portable SSD 2TB - Up to 1050MB/s - USB 3.2 . However, even though that drive is rated at 1050MB/s when connected via USB-C to one of the laptop's Thunderbolt ports booting the imported VM was agonizingly slow, e.g., 3x slower than when I ran it from the laptop drive. I didn't even let it finish and gave up. The slow speeds might be from the Samsung fingerprint security/encryption layer.I ordered this Thunderbolt drive and reformatted with encrypted APFS. I imported by Windows VM again but this time it boots and runs at the same speed as when it was on the local laptop drive. Success! I recognize that this drive can only be read via Thunderbolt (i.e., not as usable with most of my various Windows laptops) but when you need maximum speed and are willing to spend more for it, this is the solution. This is a great way to add significant SSD storage to your Mac and maintain the same level of performance as local storage.

Super Fast Using as my external boot disk
My 2017 iMac 21.5" w/Fusion drive was taking forever to boot up and was generally slow. I added the Glyph drive externally using the Thuderbolt 3 port formatted it and installed MacOS Catalina and made it an external boot disk. Then I restored my latest Time Machine backup and viola it is a screamer. Beats tearing the iMac open to change the drive to an SSD. I am lovin' it Highly recommended if you have access to a Thunderbolt 3 port on your computer. I attached a screen shot of the speeds I am recording with the Blackmagic app.

Excellent Drive
Very fast and reliable drive. I purchased this drive after returning a G-Tech Mobile Pro SSD (same size) due to frequent disconnects. This drive is slightly slower than the G-Tech (100Mb/s less in write and read) according to Blackmagic otherwise it is one of the best drive you can purchase today.

Extremely fast. Expensive but worth it.
I have the 1TB version. It is fan-effing-tastic. Extremely fast, way faster write speeds than my HP P800 (512GB Thunderbolt 3 SSD).Very impressed. Thank you also for having a separate cable instead of having one end permanently attached to the SSD. It is very appreciated and was 100% the right move. Never change that! haha

same as a USB 3 stick
350Mbps.... same as my hyperX savage from kingston, only much more expensive :/ My old Samsung T1 performs a bit better.Sending it back from Switzerland would be too expensive; I regret my purchase.

Speed of data transfer is amazing
Probably not the smallest or lightest 1TB out there but omg the speed and usability! I have yet to find a better portable hard drive. Between this and the Gnarbox, what else do you need on the go?
