This sandbox is awesome! It survived Hurricane Sandy!
My daughter loves the sandbox but I am always a little worried about letting her play in the ones at the park for fear of animal feces and other unexpected things. Therefore, I decided to purchase this sandbox. It was fairly easy to put together, although you have to pay close attention because some of the parts look the same. They are individually marked though. It is very, very solid. We had a very bad storm recently with 50 mph winds that knocked everything in our yard over, including our table. The sandbox did not move an inch. The canopy did not even come off!It is made of solid wood. However, there is no bottom to the sandbox, it's just a plastic tarp. As long as you don't plan on moving it, that does not pose a problem. It has plenty of room. 3-4 toddlers can comfortably play in it. It also has a nice seating area for adults to sit. It does need a lot of sand to fill it but we were able to purchase our sand for $3 per 50 pound bag so the cost is not too bad. We bought 8 bags. The one thing I do not like about this sandbox is that the canopy does not stop the sand from getting soaked. It would have been nice if either the canopy or the cover they provide with it were water proof because after a heavy rain my dughter cannot play in the sandbox for several days until it dries out.Overall this sandbox is excellent and I would definitely buy it again.Update: October 30, 2012I live in an area hit by hurricane Sandy. There are trees down all over my area, as well as downed power lines and flooding. I went outside this morning to check on the sandbox and it only moved a foot! The whole structure is still intact. The only thing we need to do is get a new tarp for the bottom because when the sandbox was moved (winds were 85-90 mph) it ripped the tarp. Now THAT is good quality!

Adorable sandbox and worth the price
I got this for my granddaughters. They are just too big (3 and 5) to both fit comfortably in the plastic one I bought a couple years ago.. It took my adult son about 2 hours to put this together for his nieces. He said that the instructions were a little off and the illustrations are not always a perfect match for what's actually in the box, but because the design is simple, he was able to figure everything out. When I got home and saw this sweet little sandbox in the backyard, I fell in love with it. It is very sturdy and just adorable. There is no bottom but it does come with a plastic liner and a lightweight fabric cover to tie over the sand to keep critters from using it as a litter box. I had to go to Home Depot anyway for the sand (about 6-8 bags depending on how full you want it), so I picked up some thicker plastic to reinforce the bottom. I think this is a great purchase.

Nice sandbox but...
This sandbox is nice, it is covered with a canopy, real wood however cheap thin wood, but has some sturdiness. It took my husband all day to put it together. I don't like the instructions are only pictures and confusing. The real crazy part that no one talks about is you have to drill holes/nail to keep the top and sides down. The sandbox does come with some holes and snaps but not for everything and i dont understand why. Since the wood is thin it makes it difficult or you crack the wood. Still it is beautiful sandbox and I would purchase it again. I just got it yesterday and don't know how it will stand up to the Arizona sun. I took the advise of others reviewers and will use a water sealer on the wood and sun/ fabric/UV protection on the fabric. I got 500 pounds of sand to fill the box from home depot. It was $ 7 per 50 pounds which is way cheaper than Amazon! I will also put cinnamon in the sand to keep away bugs and ants. It does come with a bottom liner but no cover so you may want to keep a trap over the sand it it rains as the canopy will not keep the rain out only shade from the sun. Hope this help new buyers!

Great Sand Box
I looked at many different sand boxes via internet for a year before deciding on this one for my grandson. I ordered it for Christmas and it came within a wk. It was nicely packaged...unfortunately 1 piece of wood was split and the canopy had a couple holes in it...looked like damage from a hot glue gun. My son was able to reinforce the split piece of wood with some heavy duty glue and KidKraft had a new canopy to me within 3 days...they were sooo pleasant when I called. The sandbox was easy to put together...very clear instructions. Sturdy and the canopy will be excellent for him to play outdoors in the Florida sun. I love it...hope my grandson does as well....still have to buy the sand for it this wkend.

Worst Assembly Instructions Ever
Worst assembly instructions I have ever seen! Just drawings, no written directions. I can’t even tell you how many hours it took to put together because i have been trying to assemble since February! And it’s now May! I finally finished, but several of the boards have split in the process and one broke entirely. You work with a tiny Allen wrench and I had to take apart sections and redo them over and over again because of random screw holes you don’t even use! This was the hardest thing I have ever assembled in my life and there’s not even that many pieces! The 4 posts that you start off with were my biggest nemesis. The pictures do not show you which way to position boards. The wood is very brittle. I hope my grandson enjoys it because it certainly gave me major grey hairs and some choice words were muttered! Don’t attempt unless you are very good with only pictures and you don’t mind screwing and unscrewing with a tiny tool many many many times over! My fingertips are very sore. I will be lucky to get one season out of this. It did arrive promptly but a very heavy box.

Looks great. Good quality
Just got it. Took some time to assemble but not hard. Looks just like on website pics. Sz is perfect for my 20 month old. Took about 300lbs of sand just enough. Only thing is i wish the clear plastic bottom was better pinned in place once assembled its loose by the top all around and sand is definitely alteady getting in there. I will try to find a staple gun to try to staple it all around. Other than that it looks great. Hope it lasts. Will need to find a better cover though besides the mesh one
