If the bears don't kill me it will keep the five star rating. If the bears eat me my lawyer will change this to a one star review.

If I get attacked by a bear and killed I will change my review to 1 star. If I survive I will change it to 5. Product was within expiration date so happy about that.

I used to walk my dogs all the time. A decade later, there are now 6 particular types of dog within 2 blocks of my house. They are all the same type. I'm not naming the type because the advocates for these toddler-maulers are absolute psychopaths and I don't want to be trolled. After a couple of recent attacks--one which my neighbor almost died from blood loss--another where my 20lb dog was grabbed by the neck through our fence while in our yard, I was terrified to walk to my mailbox without a huge kitchen knife, let alone walk my dogs anymore. I keep this bear spray in our dog bag so that anywhere we go with our dogs, we have protection. I haven't had to use it yet but it's done wonders for my anxiety...along with building a new fence. Plus the dog that attacked my neighbor was put down and the owner was sued. I still avoid going past certain houses but I'm back to walking and gardening and enjoying my neighborhood again. This stuff is worth every penny!

This product appears to work as advertised... just don't test it inside like my wife decided to do 5 minutes after opening the packaging. Our kitchen may never be the same. On the other hand, it seems to keep my mother in law away

Bought this before we went to Yellowstone Nat'l park, but probably a good idea even while out in the woods in my home state of Washington. Googled reviews, including Amazon, and this is one of the top rated brands of spray. (There's four, this is one of those) Before leaving, I also looked up what's the difference between human OC spray (or cop stuff) verses bear spray. Bear spray isn't supposed to be blasted right into a bear's face like a human mugger; you create a fog barrier for the bear to get past while he's still 30 feet away. OC for muggers is for a direct face blast, and has a much higher OC concentration also. (Bear spray is 2% OC, human stuff is MUCH higher)Talked to a few people along the trip, including rangers, and spray is supposed to be the best defense against bears. (We photographed two on our trip) If you pack a pistol, A) It needs to be ready to go at all times, not buried in a backpack, and B) Needs to be a .50 Casull pistol at a minimum or you just injure it and make it even more determined to kill you as its final act on earth. Forget long guns, a charging bear is just too fast.I like the can itself, the ratcheting safety latch is secure, yet still a one hand affair should the need arise. The holster means it can stay on your belt and not in a backpack where it's useless when a bear suddenly appears.

I ordered this to be apart of my “Go Bag,” I could’ve bought regular OC Spray in a MK9 size, but instead went down the other route and got this can of WoopAss! I decided that if I’m already going to be carrying a large can of OC why not carry Bear Spray! Which brings me to this review today. The can itself is built very hefty and it came with a very cheap holster that I tossed out right when I opened the packaging. Holding the can honestly makes you feel bad ass with a 1LB can of WoopAss! The safety clip is a NECESSITY and should be on at ALL times. I haven’t tried the can out yet, but the trigger seems fairly sensitive, on the topic of the safety clip, it DOES NOT GLOW IN THE DARK. I personally don’t like this since, it was advertised yet it’s claims aren’t met, I personally think that if the Glow in the Dark clip does actually did what it said it would really help with locating the can. Overall great hefty product with a minor flaw that doesn’t even pertain to the product itself.

After buying a new one, I used an expired one for practice/testing, something I highly recommend you do (spray down wind!). The spray was more misting and less targeted than I expected. Also, the range is probably more like 20' at best. If you've ever used a can of wasp spray, the spray stream is NOT like that. My experience was more of creating a cloud.

Bought this years ago and had to buy a new can as it expired. Luckily, haven't had to use it, so I can't say it works (although, it does + park rangers use it). I wouldn't go anywhere in the backwoods without this though. I plan on practicing with the old can.In addition, this should be useable against other creatures. There was a runner in Alberta years ago who caught a cougar attack on camera and sprayed [bear spray] and avoided a bad situation. A cougar just killed a mountain biker in Washington and this could have be useful in that situation, too. So, just because you may not have grizzlies nearby, it's not bad to have handy!

熊鈴も付けず単独登山していた際にツキノワグマに30mくらいの距離で相対してしまい、運よく向こうから離れていってくれましたが、頭の中が真っ白になったのとその日は下山するまで熊がいるんじゃないかと怯え続けることになったため、帰宅後に鈴とあわせてこちらのカウンターアソールト(＋専用ホルスター)を購入。ザックのウェストベルトに装備して有事の際にも前方から目線を切らず発射準備ができるよう、登山前に毎回取り出して確認していますが専用ホルスターのおかげか、セーフティクリップは慣れれば簡単に取れますが勝手にはずれるような心配もなく、登山10回程度持参していますが今のところ誤射のリスクを感じたことはありません。また、人気のないところで短時間噴射テストしてみましたが、5mくらい先までは濃い霧の煙幕が張れ、2-3秒かけて拡散していくようなイメージでした。熊が向かってくることがあれば、引き付けすぎるよりは少し早めに煙幕を置いておくような使い方も良いのかもしれません。幸いその後熊には遭遇していませんが、最悪の場合はカウンターアソールトで何とかなるかもしれないという心のよりどころができ、その時が来ても冷静に行動できる心の余裕ができた気がします。

まず思ったよりも軽い。北海道の原野で実際に噴射してみた。思ったよりも細く、鋭く、真っ直ぐに飛ぶ。体感的には少なくとも5メートル以上は確実に飛んでいると感じた。当日は強風だったが大きく流されることもなかった。ただし風下で噴射したわけではないので風下からの噴射が有効かどうかはわからない。

山登りをする人のレビューなどで購入、強力らしいが、試せない。強い向かい風でなければ暴漢対策としては良いと思う。あるメーカーが人には強すぎると言っているが命を守るため止むを得ないと思う。

本州の熊の生息域で、渓流釣りをしています。熊鈴も付けていますが、運悪く遭遇した場合、残る手段はこれしかありません。配達にも商品にも問題ありませんでした。

以前使っていたのが使用期限を過ぎたので買い返ですスプレーの到達距離も長く満足何より持っている安心感は一番です

高いけど、お守りと思えば高くないか。後で気が付いたけど、使用期限過ぎの場合の処理方法は？

基本的には明るいうちしか行動しない計画ですが、万一アクシデントで暗くなった山道を歩く羽目になったら頼れる1本。ただし危険なので未開封です。

北海道で登山していますが、よく行く山も熊のふんを見かけることが多いです。使ったことはありませんがホルスターを自作して携行しています。登山の前後は必ず結束コードで封印して気をつけて取り扱ってます。使用期限はほぼ5年あるものが届き安心しました。

渓流釣りや林道ツーリングの機会が多いので、私には必需品です。使用期限を質問せずに購入したのですが、期限が４年後(2020/06)の商品が届いたため、安心しました。高額商品と思われがちですが、1年当たり2,475円でクマ対策ができると考えれば、購入意欲も高まるのかなと思います。昨今のツキノワグマ被害で「在庫切れ」「入荷未定」になる可能性が高いので、必要と思われる人は早めに購入した方がいいですよ。

私はしばしば山に登る。最近は登山ブームということもあり、わりとどこに行ってもそれなりの登山者がいる。そんな登山道を昼間に移動しているだけならほとんど問題ない。登山の場合、注意が必要と思われるのは、日高や大雪のような相当な深いところに行く場合、それと山中で夜を過ごす場合だ。クマは夜の間に長距離を移動するという習性が知られている。100mを7秒フラットで走る彼等の行動範囲に近づくのは避けたい。もう一つ、私は登山以上に、人のいないところに行くことが多い。産業遺産や廃線跡の探訪という趣味があるからだ。これはなかなか同士人口の少ない趣味で、現場も、遊歩道など整備されていないクマの生息域だったりする。というわけで、お守り代わりに持ち歩いているのがコレ。少なくとも、個人的にはお守りより頼りになると思っている。以下、購入時の解説書を参考にしながら、商品情報を書いてみよう。このカウンターアソルトはアメリカBushwacker Backpack & Supply Co. Incが開発したクマ退散スプレーである。そのスプレー成分は10%カプサイシン（唐辛子エキス）で、毒物ではないため、携行に特別の許可は不要。もちろん非致死性だから、万一使用したとしてもクマを殺してしまう心配はない。とはいっても刺激は強烈で、その辛さは320万SHUだ。と言っても320万SHUがなんのことだかさっぱりわからないが、これはスコピル熱単位と呼ばれる辛さの指標。世界一辛いと言われているナガ・ジョロキアの3.7倍の刺激と言えば、ちょっとわかるだろうか。使用方法は以下の通り。前もって1)　黄色いプラスチック製のテープを切っておく。使用時2)　スプレーを縦に持つ3)　コックの指さしに人差し指を入れ、親指でセフティクリップのツメを手前に引いて外す4)　腕を伸ばし、体から離した位置で、目標めがけて発射レバーを親指で押す（ガス圧は相当の衝撃がある）使用後5)　外したセフティクリップを戻す性能は噴霧継続時間　CA230；約7.2秒　CA290；約9.2秒対象距離　4m～9m未使用なら購入から3年間使用できるらしい開発の段で、グリズリーベア、シロクマ、アメリカクロクマに関しては、実行性が確認され、アメリカの省庁や州政府などでも使用されているという。問題は日本の品種に有効かどうか、であるが、解説書によると少ないながらもヒグマ、ツキノワグマでも実例があり、効果があったとのことである。というわけで、私も一応所持しているのだが、やはり使用は避けたい。先日、北海道新聞にこんな写真が紹介されていた。知床で、漁師が、用具の手入れをしている。そのすぐ5mのところに野生の大人のクマがいる。しかし、互いがそれぞれの作業に集中していて、何も起きない。知床では、普通の光景とまで言わないまでも、ままあることだそうだ。自分たちが持っているクマのイメージとのギャップに驚かされるが、本来、自然の生き物は、不必要な攻撃は行わないし、そのことが最大の自己防衛策であることを知っているのである。人間の過剰防衛が悲惨な結果を招くこともある。まずは個々の心がけを高め、自然の偉大さを十分認識の上、自然を楽しみたいものである。

効果の程は、まったくわかりません。思っていたより小さく、こんなんで大丈夫かと思ったりもしますが、所有感がたまらないです。今回購入にあたり、使用期限が気になっていました。約3年とどこかの記載を見たこともあり、残り1年くらいの商品が届いたらどうしようと思ってましたが、2019/08という謎のシールが貼ってありました・・・とりあえず一安心です。

3個目です。これまでは、お店で購入していましたが、今回は、Amazon 経由で購入。1年前ですけど。使用期限があるので、新しいものを買わないと意味がないですね。Amazon 経由だと新しい物がてにはいるので、良いと思います。しかし、まだ、一度も使った事はないです。。。（まあ、使わずに済んでいることに感謝ですね）

知床の山に入る事が多いので買いました。実際、知床のビジターセンターなどでレンタルしています。高価なので頻度の少ない方にはそちらがお勧めかも。実際　ビジターセンターでも登山客の使用例(熊と遭遇して噴射)が無く微妙な所だがお守り代わりに携帯しています。

北海道の山中の取材旅行で使用せずに済んでよかった。持っていることで、いざという時の備えとして安心できる。次回も持っていける。

今年は、熊の出没情報が非常に多い年でした。また、実際に被害にあわれた方も多かったと思います。実際には、この商品でどれだけ防げるものなのか未知ですが、お守りと思って、荷物のリストに入れてます。
