Pathos Volume 1 (Yaoi) (PATHOS GN)

The plot sounded so interesting to me, but the graphics were difficult to read both on my phone and on my kindle. And for the price I was expecting more of the story. Almost half the book was extra side stories and not the original story line.

This book had my heart soaring above the clouds !!!! My favorite character is J because he's so hard on the outside but so soft on the inside. *sighs happily*

I was excited to get to read manga on my Kindle. But when I downloaded it and tried to read it the words were so small, and not clear at all! I read the first 4 or 5 pages, but it was so hard and a sexy vampire story can't be steamy if you're too preoccupied just trying to make out the text!I have a Kindle 2. Maybe one with a larger screen would be easier to read, but I don't think it would help that much.

It was a very good read. It may confuse you with the unwarned flashbacks but once you get past those everything is well linked.

I love Sadahiro Mika. Love, Love, Love. She can do no wrong in my book but something about Pathos just doesn't sit well with me. Its not bad. I really like the angst level of the book. The whole conflict with Ace being in love with Jay and Jay being attracted to Ace but shackled to King, albeit loosely, and Jays inner turmoil and guilt about being drawn to Ace is really interesting. The main characters being Vampires is always a plus too. The thing I really don't like is probably the fact that Ace looks so childish. Thats my main pet peeve with yaoi in general. He definitely looks hot when he gets older though... I guess the first part of this series is pretty good but I have read both parts and I think maybe thats why I'm hesitant about giving Pathos 5 stars. I'm not gonna give away the ending but I guarantee it will leave you saying "huh?"

Although not as outrageously smutty as some yaoi, this manga is absolutely delightful. As the book description states, Pathos is the story of 2 men (vampires) raising a human child. The younger of the two men, J, is drawn to the boy's blood and desperately tries to resist the temptation so he doesn't kill him. This gets a bit complicated, though, as the boy (Ace) finds himself more and more attracted to J and tries to seduce him. This all leads to a shower scene with J finally sucking the teenaged Ace's blood and almost killing him. The older vampire, King, comes home in time to save the boy and explains to J that for a vampire, bloodust equals love. In other words, J is in love with Ace.Since vampires suck blood instead of having sex, there's plenty of hot and heavy embraces with close-ups of a fang entering someone's neck.There's also an awesome scene with King and J, where King interrupts J's pickup of a victim and pays the victim to have sex with J in front of him. Technically, a vampire can't get it up, but King's excitement in watching is obvious by his intent eyes and lengthening fangs. Rawrr!Overall, a great book - nice art, captivating characters, and plenty of teasing that will leave you wanting volume 2 right away.

In Pathos geht es um die Dreiecksbeziehung zwischen den beiden Vampiren King, einem erfolgreichen Schriftsteller, J und dem von ihnen adoptierten Jungen Ace. Nach einem Zwischenfall zu Halloween beschließen die beiden Vampire den neunjährigen Ace in ein Internat nach Boston, weit entfernt von ihrer Heimat, zu schicken, denn Ace kennt das Geheimnis seiner Adoptiveltern nicht. (Obwohl er im Laufe der Zeit immer mehr etwas zu ahnen scheint und durch verschiedene Ereignisse seine Theorien so gut wie bestätigt sieht).In den folgenden fünf Jahren scheint auch alles weiterhin gut zu gehen, bis Weihnachten, Ace ist inzwischen 14 Jahre alt, alles eskaliert. J und Ace fühlen sich immer mehr zueinander hingezogen und während Ace nichts von der Gefahr ahnt in der er schwebt, versucht J immer verzweifelter seinen Blutdurst und sein Verlangen nach Ace zu unterdrücken.Ab etwa der Mitte des ersten Bandes beginnt mit 'Deep Throat' eine Nebengeschichte die die Vergangenheit von King und J beschreibt.1955 befreit King den in Alcatraz inhaftierten J und verwandelt ihn in einen Vampir. Während der Geschichte stellt sich heraus, dass King J schon seit seiner Kindheit kennt und die Schuld am Tod von Js Eltern trägt, der daraufhin auf die schiefe Bahn gerät und deswegen in Alcatraz landet. J fühlt sich von King verraten und versucht diesen zu ermorden, was ihm nicht gelingt. King sieht ein, dass sie nicht länger zusammen leben können und ihre Wege trennen sich.Erst 18 Jahre später 1973 treffen sie sich erneut, auf dem inzwischen seit 1963 geschlossenen Alcatraz, wieder.Wie es mit den Beiden von da an weiter geht, soll an dieser Stelle noch nicht verraten werden ;)Alles in allem ein sehr gelungenes Buch. Der Zeichenstil ist klar und die Seiten übersichtlich gestaltet. Trotz der Komplexität der Gefühle, der einzelnen Charaktere, wirkt die Geschichte nicht überladen und ist flüssig zu lesen. Mika Sadahiro gibt ihren Figuren genug Raum um sich zu entfalten und der Leser wird zu keinem Zeitpunkt auf der Strecke gelassen.Für alle Fans des Vampir- Genre, die auch kein Problem mit etwas expliziteren Sexszenen haben, nur zu empfehlen.Ich freue mich jetzt schon auf den zweiten Teil der Serie und hoffe, dass er dem Ersten in nichts nachsteht. An dieser Stelle also von meiner Seite eine Empfehlung.

定広先生のアンダーグランドシリーズにハマり、10年くらい前のも読みたいと思い購入しました。 やはりストーリーも面白いし、表現力もあって改めてすごいなと思いました。 今回は珍しくファンタジー要素のあるヴァンパイア設定で、Hしているわけではないのに吸血シーンはエロスです。
