Something NEW for you!
I"m using these to make diffusors. The store bought diffusors cost an arm and a leg and then break instantly. The motor dies. So I saw a youtube video on how to make your own diffusors. You take an air pump, some tubing and buy some small bottles with corks. Cut two holes in the cork - which btw is no easy feat! You can't cut the holes with a dremmel (as she did in the video), or a drill, you need a 1/8" copper piping to bore thru.... anyway... then put some essential oil in the bottom (10-20 drops). Oh I forgot you need an eye dropper to attach to the end of the tubing inside the bottle. It points at the edge of the essential oil - I use Thieves oil because it kills mildew! when you turn on the pump (wonderful that it's adjustable) the air sprays some of the oil up and out and into your room. WONDERFUL.

Small, Compact and Relatively Quiet
When we first installed this pump, we wanted to elevate it to prevent it from sucking up dust and dirt from the floor and blowing it into the aquarium. Granted, there is a simple air filter over the air intake, but we were looking to avoid creating a problem. We quickly realized that running the unit on top of the empty shipping box mega-amplified the sound of the pump, so we found a nearby shelf to be a quieter, more stable place to keep the pump. Lesson Learned: Try running the pump (no hoses attached) from different locations until you find the place that works/sounds best. Be sure before you cut your tubing. :-)

Not very quiet
Got one of these included with a GH Waterfarm kit. I have read how these are quiet, which is exactly what I wanted, but I can hear this pump all over my house despite trying to isolate it in a box, on foam, or whatever. The issue stems from the noise it produces being a low pitch hum. From my days as a car stereo fanatic, I know that bass tones travel farther (and peak at 30 feet) versus higher pitch sounds. It's the reason you'll hear the bass of a car stereo before you hear the mids and highs. This pump makes a lot of noise at a low pitch, so it carries through walls, floors and other cavities/objects. I can hear the low pitch hum as far away from my room as downstairs near the garage. As with all bass sound its louder in some places and quieter in others, but this thing is very bothersome to me.
O**.
liquid air!
not really, but this pump does do a great job or aerating my indoor system. I'll definitely be back for more
