John W. Schaum Piano Course: C -- The Purple Book

Useful for my daughter’s piano class.

This was my 96 year old grandmother's standby introductory book for teaching children how to play the piano. She taught all of her 5 children and many of their friends in the neighborhood (that was how she made extra money as a stay at home mother and piano teacher), me and my sisters, and anyone else who happened to come along and wanted to know how to play the piano. She made it so easy! It was this book and the book called "Teaching Little Fingers To Play" (red book) that were her go to books for beginners. She played piano for most of her life and had many techniques for making it easy to learn how to play. I have had other teachers who use other books and they made learning the piano difficult and the books were challenging. These books are old, but a great resource and easy reference. I would go to these ones first before getting any others for beginning piano players and people who are learning how to read music. This green book would follow the red, "Teaching Little Fingers To Play" book.

I like everything about this piano course. The songs are old tried and true with simplified classics includedand a gradual advancement as the student progresses.

I had this book back in the 70's when I was in Jr. High with my Piano Teacher. Now decades later, my Piano Teacher has passed and the bug to play piano has bitten me. This time I am practicing with a little more regularity and with more appreciation for this book. It's a great book, teaching many musical theories in a logical progression. It has been a great review for me.

This book is really Good-and for ages. My grandson was using it while I was visiting his family. He was able to play the music in this book and it was wonderful to listen to how beautiful the songs were.

My sister is semi-retired on teaching piano, and always used Schaum's course books. She accepted a student and asked my help in locating specific books. I checked Amazon and yep, they were here, no problem.

I had these books when I was learning piano as a youth and they are excellent. I credit them with any ounce of prowess I had or ever will have.

Product was very well packaged and delivered in good time. Recommended!

Slowly working through this series of well tried and tested learning course. Very small steps in learning, nice catchy tunes, love this series pf books. Would reccomend for any age (i am 68) of person wanting to either learn or improve thier playing.
