Magic
I am in the middle of converting all of my mini VHS-C home video tapes to digital. I needed this in order to achieve this project. Item arrived quickly and in good shape, not damaged. It was very easy to hook up. I did not need to hook up the S video plug but it's there if needed. No issues, it does what it's supposed to do, converts the analog signal to digital. I am using this with a Windows 7 desktop PC. The USB is plugged into my tower and the other end into the plugs that come out of my VCR. I did not use the CD software that came with it, I never tried. I'm using OBS which is a free download on the internet, and it's like magic, I put the VHS tape in & hit play and it shows up on my screen. These adapters all pretty much do the same thing, doesn't matter which brand you get as they all are just converters, they're middle men between your VCR and your PC. This converter does get warm while in use but never hot, so it seems that it's normal. I've had no issues with it & very very satisfied. Easy to use, easy to hook up, does the job, I love it.

Great product!
This product works and works well. So glad, had to return the previous brand I bought some days back but then started looking for alternatives and then saw this one. So glad I did. I has a lot of different formats for the video capture including MP4 which is what I'm using for my old camera videos,A bit tricky to get it right and since there is NO manual, the pdf included is only a product description of their entire line of products and nothing more, it was trial and error. But once i got the right configuration it works like a charm. The device configures right into Win 10 without a hitch and it works with other video capture software and editors I have installed, all of them are free.Delighted with this thing.

DISCLAIMER: This is a MacroSilicon USB capture device.
Interestingly, I thought this would only apply to HDMI devices, but apparently to analog capture devices as well. I'm gonna talk a lot about technical things about this and why you should avoid getting it:This is a MacroSilicon device, with USB VID_534D. After telling my friend the audio problem with 2 channels being detected as a single 96,000KHz channel, I was asked what the USB vendor was, and it was indeed MacroSilicon. I tried to look for software solutions that try to deinterlace this mono 96,000KHz channel into two 48,000KHz channels, but to no avail. The only MacroSilicon model that can be fixed is the ms2109, and unfortunately this is not an ms2109 model. I heard that on Linux, it can automatically deinterlace the channel into 2 separate ones, but not at all on Windows, and trying to switch OSes while trying to do video capture on my old consoles is way too much of a hassle.TLDR: If you want to do Stereo audio capture along with video, I recommend using something else to capture audio only. The firmware is bugged for the audio, you cannot fix it if you don't use Linux.

Easy setup and works great for streaming old games
I use this as a capture card to stream games on old consoles and it works great! No issues with audio like some of these capture cards have. Didn't have any issues setting it up on windows 10, straight up just plug and play.Picture looks decent not spectacular but overall solid.

Why!!!???
Since virtually every VCR made used female plugs for output why would you put female plugs on the ends of these cables? IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!! Just design it so it works without having to buy the male to male RCA cables!!!

Works with Linux using the VLC program.
Using Linux 4.4 I can now watch tapes from my ancient vhs tape player using VLC..The VLC capture device was opened and the second audio device was configured.

Use OBS
To record/watch VHS tapes with this, use OBS. From obsproject.com | to learn how to use it, check out the youtuber "Tech That Doesn't Byte" and watch his tutorial on converting VHS to Mp4 parts 2&4 if your windows like me. dont need any software thats on the disc, just plug everything in (note: use VHS out) and open OBS. Lastly and this is very important, make sure on camera AND microphone privacy settings, that OBS has permission to use. Great product, just takes a little bit of know how.

Not for a novice
There is no instruction, the supplied video capture software is worthless (it's bug prone, keep crashing and hanging, and after so much struggle I could finally capture the video, but no audio). The device itself works fine. I just had to search for a free video capture software that works, I found OBS be the best free software to do the job. It finally allowed me record video audio in sync, but OBS is not intuitive to use. It took me while to figure out all settings needed to be set in order for it to work. The seller is better to include a user manual and a software that works.

Preformed as I expected
Using OBS under Kubuntu 20.10 it worked great to capture some old news clips recorded on VHS. The image quality is nothing to write home about but was perfectly acceptable for the price I paid. Don't expect you are getting a professional quality analog video capture solution for this price and you won't be disappointed. If you have high quality analog recordings to capture then consider getting something higher end but for 30 year old VHS recordings this will certainly do the trick.
