IMPORTANT - CHECK YOUR DVD PLAYER BEFORE ORDERING!!Looking through the reviews, I can see that a lot of people have been disappointed to discover that this DVD will not play for them.This is because it is an American import - a REGION 1 DVD. UK players are invariably locked to REGION 2, so USA imports will NOT play on them. I have a multi-region player (purchased legally from Amazon - do a search, you'll find plenty), so I was able to watch it...... anyway, the movie itself - it's a nice little feelgood romantic comedy, which still outshines most of the others, even after over thirty years.No swearing, no "bedroom" scenes, just a sweet, funny story, featuring three main characters who bounce off each other perfectly - great interaction, excellent comic timing, and a decent plotline.Richard Dreyfuss gives a brilliant Oscar-winning performance as Elliot Garfield, the quirky, likeable, and talented aspiring actor. In particular, I found his reluctant portrayal of Richard III as a grossly exaggerated stereotypical gay to be both hilarious and excruciating - he deserved his gong for those scenes alone.The other two main characters - Paula (Marsha Mason) and her daughter Lucy (Quinn Cummings) are well written, and they interact well with Dreyfuss' character - I found myself liking them all, and actually wanting it to work out for them.If you want to be entertained for a couple of hours, this is a nice way to do it.

I saw a Discovering Film episode on Richard Dreyfus and it showed a scene from this movie (he won the Oscar) I recalled how much we enjoyed it from many years ago & we watched again on PrimeIt is a Neil Simon script and although it was made in 1977 it has not aged and was just as enjoyable as I remember itIt portrays the angst of a struggling actor and the relationship of a mismatched pair forced into sharing an apartment with the addition of the woman’s young daughter. It all works out in the end. Amusing, romantic and with fine performances from the three leads. You’ll love it!

This film is just up there with the best .. We have it on a video use ago and I've never forgotten it ....I have been trying to buy the DVD for a reasonable price for years as it appears to now be a collectable ....accidentally got one from America which of course doesn't play on my TV ... make sure you get region 2 Europe ....This film so makes you laugh I think we've all been there with love lost and found and this encapsulates it ...Richard Dreyfus is just to die for... he is so funny ..... Don't bother with the newer version it was rubbish it's the same words line to line but the actors don't even deserve to be in the originals shadows in comparison ....If you can get this all rent this film do watch it brings back the good old days of the 70s....

This film is 44 years old, but views like it has just been releasedIt is simply the very best romantic comedy; great acting by all and a very witty script, so no need to fill it with bad language (why do they do that?)Seen it?See it againNot seen it?You are in for a special treat . .And don't miss the great score by David Gates. I seen this back in the early eighties and it quickly became one of my fav movies.Why it has not been released on blu ray in the U.K puzzles me as it is a great comedy with the 3 main actors solid in their roles,very funny in parts but it is the feel good factor that i remember the most.Totally recommend buying from amazon prime if you can or at the very least well worth a rental.

I saw this film in the cinema when it was first released I was so happy to find it on Prime.It's not readily available via the usual sources. It's a lovely romantic film, and 99% just the three actors for most of the film. I've already watched it three times. It's a lovely Christmas watch for all of the family, or just on your own.

The seller was amazing! I was confusd about 'regions' that DVDs can be used in so I contacted the seller, and he was brilliant! Not only was he quick to reply but was so helpful and friendly. I got the DVD so quickly, well wrapped and even though it is for a christmas present I watched it anyway and it was perfect! If it hadn't been for the seller I may not have bought it due to my confusion about DVDs playing in specific regions. The seller was great! He even gave me suggestions and links to where I could buy specific DVD players for specific regions. The seller was just faultless!! lovely man! and great product!!

This is in a different region and wont play on our Sony DVD player but can play on my Samsung DVD player. I may need to repurchase this item to play on DVD players in the UK including Sony DVD players.
