Upstairs & Downstairs: The Illustrated Guide to the Real World of Downton Abbey

Concise, balance of narrative, stories, and illustrations. Life in Edwardian times.
It’s a well-written book that is concise, and with a good balance of narrative, stories, and illustrations. Highly recommend if you’re looking to learn about life in the Edwardian times in particular, or to better understand the divide between the lives of the affluent class and the working class in any country. Downton Abbey fans will particularly like this book (but to be clear, this has no direct relationship with the show at all).

If you are a fan of Downton Abbey you will enjoy this book.
I really enjoyed the book, it was very interesting. I had trouble putting the book down. I am a big fan of Downton Abbey, so I wanted to read more about the lifestyles during that era. It explained the daily lives of the servants and how hard they worked, including pictures. It also gives you an insight into the lives of some famous people. I only wish that it was longer, I wanted to learn more about the homes, how they dressed, and travels during that era.

Different book that held my attention, even though it wasn't Downton Abbey.
This is an interesting book on the people upstairs (them) and the servants downstairs. It reminded me of Downton Abbey. It was neat seeing the pictures of these real people and their stories as well. I'm looking for other books to buy to learn about this period in history.

What it was really like to be a servant for the English Aristocrats
Really interesting book. Lets you see from 1st hand accounts what it was like to be a servant when Britain rules the world. If you like Downton Abbey, you will probably like this book.

Great information
A great insight into the real life of those living in the days of Downton Abbey. Offers information on the lives of those up and down stairs, talking about food, wages, clothes etc. Also explains the demise of this way of life.
