Well made but some body work may be needed
On my MIM 2014 Telecaster some work was required to get the plate to fit. It placed the pickup nearer the bridge than the standard 6-saddle plate, so I had to route out the pickup well in the body to get 4-5 mm more room. The holes for the pickup and plate mounting screws and strings were spot on. No scratch plate mods were needed. The brass saddles interfered with each other, meaning the string spacing was not even. I had to file the ends of the saddles to get equal string spacing. Once that work was done the rest was easy. I use a wound G string set (Ernie Ball Extra Light Custom 10-50, #2210) which seemed to make intonation really easy. After all, 3-saddle bridges and wound G's were standard fits for Telecasters until 1968-ish so it should not be a great surprise that intonation was not the drama you read about on the web. The saddles in this kit are not compensated i.e. they are not angled. I think folk are using plain G's on 3-saddle bridges and running into the problem of intonating a plain G and wound D string on the same saddle, hence the angled saddles you see on some designs. Anyway, intonation was easy and certainly not compromised between string pairs on my Tele. Sounds great, although we know hearing is very subjective. Defo not worse than the 6-saddle and looks the biz as well! Great value and quality (5 stars), but be aware bodywork could be needed, together with filing of the saddle ends, which are the reasons for my 4-stars review.
