B & M BREAD BROWN RAISIN, 16 oz (Pack of 2)

B & M is a brand that's been around for a long time. This is a well priced brown bread, made with molasses and raisens. It is delicious, moist and more like a desert. My mother used to buy it when I was a child. . Well worth the price.

Great product but I could only enjoy one can. The other can was dented and as you know, to get brown bread out of the can you open both ends and push it out slicing it as you go. Can't be done with a badly dented can. I've no idea where the dent occurred but I wanted to return the product but, oh no, it's not returnable. I navigated through Amazon's complaint options and was connected to an understanding customer service rep who refunded my purchase price and I didn't have to return the brown bread. I got to enjoy one can but the dented can was trashed. I'll buy again with fingers crossed that both cans arrive without dents.

Good tasting but not sweet enough for me

Not as good as home made, but a great substitute. Lovely with cream cheese on it.

I have been serving this B&M brown bread for many, many years. I could not find in my local grocery, so I ordered them at 3x the retail price because we really wanted brown bread. Both cans were severely dented and the label was a bit torn. There was no way possible to slide the bread out of the can. My major gripe was that the box I received was in perfect condition. So, whomever the packer was, packed the dented cans and shipped them out knowing that they were damaged! That makes me mad!!This bread is hearty and moist. You can purchase with or without raisins. My family favorite, but not when they arrive damaged.

Brown bread, especially brown bread with raisins has been a New England traditional side dish served with baked beans since 1862. While it is still found in most groceries stores in the Northeast, it is difficult to find in many other parts of the country. Perhaps this is because it isn't merchandised properly. Brown bread should be prominently displayed near the baked beans, not in the bread isle. If you have never tried brown bread, I suggest you give it a try the next time you have beans. Just open both end of the can, push the bread out, and either steam it in a double broiler, or to keep it from getting soggy, or a couple minutes in the microwave will make it just as delicious. Remember to use plenty of butter. bon appetite.

I loved the little sandwiches my mother would make from this bread (although I think it also had dates in it then) for special occasions. She spread cream cheese between two slices of this bread and served them with fruit salad. I did the same several years ago and wanted to include these in a tea party I was having for some young girls and their mothers this week. It was a disappointment when, first, I couldn't get the bread out of the can by removing both ends of the can and pushing it out. I finally slid a knife around the edges, but it was ragged and dry. When I tried to cut it with a thin sharp knife, the slices broke off before the slicing was completed. I was doing this the morning of the afternoon tea and pieced them together to make little quarter-sized bites, still dry tasting, They were stored in a plastic container encased in plastic wrap. Later that night, I was ready to discard the rest of the sandwiches that had not been put out for the tea. They looked more moist, so I tasted one. They were much improved. So, for future use -since I ordered four cans of the bread - I will make the sandwiches a day ahead and include a layer of damp paper towels next to the sandwiches between them and the plastic wrap.

Very tasty. Was a little hard to get out. The size was smaller than I anticipated. No big deal. It was delicious. Got acquainted with Boston Brown Bread about 25 yearsm ago on a trip to the northwest and really liked it. Didn't keep up the interest until recently. Made some from a recipe and and found out that we had been missing out on this good bread. Tried this from Amazon and it's still delicious. We will continue to have some on hand as a desert. YUM YUM
