Informative and Enjoying
We always here the stories about some of the more known pirates. This book goes into some of the lesser known pirates and their stories.

One good source for the most notorious pirates.
Having lived in the US Virgin Islands pirate lore is everywhere. I wanted to learn more about those who actually came to St. Thomas and found this book helpful. One thing I didn't know there were women pirates. Interesting and informative for those who like pirate history.

Not as enjoyable as other books by these editors
The book covers some truly interesting characters and fascinating tales but is let down by some strange editorial decisions. Books by Charles Rivers Editors usually do an excellent job of summarising historical events. This book, however, republishes seemingly endless pages of diary entries, court transcripts, and letters that quickly become repetitive. It gives the book a wildly varying style that is quite difficult to get into.

Worth reading
Lots of factual information, easy to read, I enjoyed it a lot.

Overpriced
Massively overpriced and poor quality book!!! Looks like someone has just thrown this book together with a photocopier in their lunch break. The text is tiny and reading it very quickly becomes a chore!!
