Great Upgrade
If your tailgate hinges every start to go bad, replace with these. I run a full size spare and bike rack and this had held up great and was overall easy to install. Well worth the cost.

Great Aftermarket Option
2003 Jeep TJOverall, it’s not a bad project. All of my bolts came out without any issues until I got to the last one! I used heat on each bolt before attempting their removal, but the last one wasn’t having it. I ended up having to grind the bolt head off and then pushed the stud through the tub.I have the factory tire carrier and third brake light. I did not want to use the supplied offset brackets because I wanted to keep the spare tire as close to the tailgate as possible. This means I had to make wider holes on the mount for the third brake light. I also extended the wiring for the third brake light while I had it all apart. No issues, but just a heads up for anyone else. When you remove the factory hinges, it appears to be bare metal underneath. So I applied 3 coast of a rust inhibitor and let it dry overnight, then mounted all the new hardware.Another side note, the plate from the Morryde kit doesn’t really allow for any aftermarket surrounds on the brake lights.Definitely a solid product. The tailgate feels way more solid and the hinges are smooth.

Heavy duty tire carrier for my TJ
I installed this product on a 2001 Jeep Wrangler to mount a 33x10.5x15 tire and wheel. After consulting the interwebs and finding many well done how to videos, I installed it fairly easily. I had three issues that kept this product from being 5 stars. The first was the reinforcing bracket that goes from the top hinge to the sports bar in the jeep had one ear that was bent, requiring a bit of time in the vice and a hammer to straighten. The second, the spacers that go behind the rubber bump stops were 1/2" too narrow to touch the tire. I drilled four 2" holes out of an old router plate made of phenlic resin to fill the gap. And third, the mounting bolts for the spacers were 1/2" too short to engage the holes to install the spacers and bumpers. Off to the hardware store to find those. Most folks that buy a kit to reinforce the tailgate are doing so because they have bigger than stock tires. Appropriate hardware would have been nice. All in all, the kit was easy to install and appears very robust. I'm happy so far!

Great option for large tire on TJ tailgate
I did not want to run a bumper mounted tire carrier. This thing is expensive but it is really beefy and well made. Depending on your wheel backspacing the rubber support nubbing extensions will not be enough to touch the tire. The mfg could not predict everyone tire size and backspacing so I understand that. Overall I am very happy with purchase.

16.5 ft/lbs torque specifications for hedge thread holes probably isn’t enough
When adjusting the tailgate, it only took loosening two bolts for the whole tailgate to twist/shift/sag on one side; therefore, the strength of this product is not on the thickness of the plating, which is lovely & exciting, but on the strength of the bolts & most importantly the torque applied with a torque wrench to those bolts into the tailgate & vehicle.I'm not going to over-tighten, stripping the threads of the vehicle, so I am betting that strength is not met, & I am concerned that I still do not have torque specifications for the vehicle. The strength will simply not be there if not torqued with a torque wrench; there is no confidence in strength otherwise.*1*The most important thing is to torque the bolts to the exact specifications with a torque wrench; this is missing from the instructions & could not be provided to date...*2*The wrapping was absolutely deplorable, a true disgrace. Gouges to bare metal had to be filed to take the birs off, and had to be painted due to lazily not wrapping the nicely painted thick heavy metal parts banging into each other in shipping, total laziness in wrapping & shipping consideration. (I have to get black touch-up paint to go over what I had on hand for what is still visible.) I bought this after seeing a video of someone unwrapping a perfect wrap job of this item, but that was in no way the case for the item I received; it made me feel that it may have possibly been a returned item, and treated with complete disrespect as far as wrapping/shipping. Now, I have to hope that touch-up paint matches to an acceptable level.*3*For this product to be a winner, updates with all torque specifications to the vehicle's holes' threads must be included in the instructions &/or produced in a sponsored video with that link in the instructions, and the wrapping & shipping has to return to the level it used to be at the time of the video I saw.My original "2006" tailgate bolts & hinge bolts were easy to loosen & remove.GenRight Off Road was kind enough to send me "bolt" specifications, but there is no way to know which bolt is which on the chart. This will be a good product after rectifying the two major business decision flaws. There were not too many TJ models to produce a torque specification diagram pictorially for total confidence & ease of installation. A link may be able to be added in this review reply if GenRight Off Road produces the torque diagram solution for future sales to be back on top.The service manual does not include the torque specifications in question, so the only way is to contact DaimlerChrysler Corporation, Jeep, or whatever their current name is ( :Update: 16.5 foot pounds, which is not much for the threads to hold the henges ( :I didn’t use a torque wrench because I didn’t have the specification, but my advise is to tighten as much as possible without over tighten or stripping threads. It is holding the 31” tire fine even though I haven’t found all of the rubber bumper bolts needed to reach the tire to stabilize completely; I have enough to do okay for now.The original equipment is specified for only 50 pounds of weight, so this product was/is the best solution ( :

Morryde is heavy duty!
Like the headline says it's truly heavy duty HOWEVER it lacks adequate installation instructions. The YouTube instruction video provided by Extreme Terrain is also a drawn out 48:53 minute video and will leave you pulling hairs. On the plus side its really heavy duty and heavy in itself.

Just what the doctor ordered!
Aside from 4 sheared T40 bits (even after a liberal application of a torch and penetrating oil) due to age, corrosion and a factory application of thread locker, this carrier is the bee's knees. We (my wife and I) installed this on our 98 Jeep TJ this weekend. Aside from the stubborn factory bolts, this carrier is awesome. Solid, heavy and effective.Grease zerts on the hinges amplifies the ease of the operation. After assembly and a small adjustment for gap alignment, it opens and closes extremely easily. No more need for my full-body effort to open or close the tailgate. A three year old could do it now.I deliberately aim for speed bumps and revel in the lack of creaking and rattle sounds now.The thought that went into the design is awesome. Pre-fabricated mounting points antenna mount, hi-lift jack or other accessories is fantastic.Only negative aspect (still 5 stars) is the snubber spacers for the spare tire didn't reach the tire itself. But the tailgate is SO solid now that the tire doesn't vibrate in the least. No matter how hard I hit speed bumps or railroad crossings.Sure, it costs a more than a swing out, bumper mounted tire carrier. But I only need to operate one part (the tailgate) instead of two. Blends in and almost looks factory. Engineers at Jeep's design department could learn a thing or two.I absolutely recommend this carrier 100%. My only regret... not having discovered this sooner.
