3.75 STARS
I don’t know how I feel about Fearless King. It is book 4 in the Kings of Rittenhouse series. I have very much enjoyed this series. The trope is brother’s best friend and best friend’s little sister. There were times I was loving it and times it was like watching a train wreck that I couldn’t look away from. The main characters are complex and flawed. Sometimes I didn’t like them. I guess that just makes them more real. Some of the story will continue in the next book about the heroine’s brother. I look forward to Colm’s story.

So Good
WOW!!! Maya has taken a much used trope, finding love with a best friend's little sister, and given it a whole new life.Add a few more complications, such as Ford's younger brother Grant having deep feelings for Liv also, and off you go into a fascinating, sweet and hot story.I volunteered to review an arc of this book, but it was so good that I had to buy it. Now I am waiting impatiently for Liv's brother, Colm's, story. I can't wait to read it.

Ford and Liv are a perfect match
Their story is a love years in the making... Side glances, stray touches, and flirty banter start off the sparks - and they never stop - throughout the entire book! The build up was amazing and after they are both done fighting their feelings their truly wonderful love takes form.If there were more than five stars this book would get all of those too.

***5 Angst Filled, Emotional Slow-Burn Stars!***
Gah! Fearless King is a fantastic angst filled, emotional slow-burn romance that completely captured my heart. I have been waiting for Ford's book for some time now, and it went above and beyond my expectations. I absolutely loved it!Ford is the most quiet and reserved of the Kings. He's the type of guy that tries to fly under the radar when it comes to his fans. He's a pro hockey player, but he doesn't care about the fame that comes with it. To him, he's just going out there and doing what he's good at and what he loves. And being able to do that with his close friends is a bonus. He and Colm have been best friends for some time now, so he's watched as Colm's little sister Olivia grew up. Colm and Olivia lost their parents in a tragic accident some years back, so it's always been the two of them against the world. Ford has always looked at her like a sister and helped watch out for her over the years. But all of that changed two years ago while at a mutual friend's wedding. Now she is all grown up and he can't stop thinking about her.Olivia has had a crush on Ford since she was a kid. She would always follow her brother and his friends around just to be close to him. Now she finally has her chance, and the two of them share a magical kiss. One of those kisses that sets the bar high for anyone else. After the kiss, the two of them make plans only for the night to take a drastic turn for the worst. Will they be able to find their way back from this?I absolutely devoured this book, from the very first word to the very last. Then I sat there wishing the story wasn't over, wishing I could stay within this world...with these characters...just a little longer. Fearless King is proof that Maya Hughes can write humor, heart and angst in a perfect harmony. I could go on and on about this story, the author and how much I loved each word that I read. I loved it that much. This is easily a top read of 2019 for me, and hopefully will capture your heart as it did mine.

One of the best brother’s best friend stories I’ve ever read!
ARC provided by author for honest review.4.5 stars!Oh boy. This book. My heart.“Anything to do with Ford was a one-way trip to heartache. Been there, done that, got the jersey.”There are so many elements of this story that I loved. Maya Hughes knocked it out of the park with Fearless King, and it’s one of the best brother’s best friend stories I’ve ever read. It’s so full of fierce determination and love that by the end my heart was bursting. The characters, the relationships, the struggles, the steaminess- it has everything I love in a contemporary romance. You NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!The reason I went 4.5 stars and not 5 was completely personal; I had to adjust to some of the metaphors and imagery used. I LOVE metaphors and imagery, but I couldn’t connect to the majority of the ones used in this book. It wasn’t enough to dampen the appeal of the actual plot, but it was enough to distract me.“Which dream did I get to live? The one that had always been there and made my family proud, or the one that made my heart sing?”Liv, our heroine, might be young, but she knows who she is and what she loves. Her heart is in the dance studio, but her loyalty to her brother and parents has her working hard toward a dream that isn’t hers. And her feelings for Ford? She’s loved him for as long as she can remember, but it’s another dream that feels out of reach. Liv’s heart is so big that she’s willing to sacrifice her own happiness, and your heart will break for her. But when Liv finally decides to fight for what she wants, all bets are off. Our girl is fierce, and her capacity for love makes her that much stronger. I want Liv to be my bestie. You will, too.“So strong and so fragile, he had the biggest heart and so much fear about letting people see all of him.”Ford’s introverted and mysterious demeanor draws you in, and with each layer that peels back, revealing more of his personality, you’ll fall deeper in love with him. His sensitivity, his vulnerability, his loyalty, and his fierce protective nature of those he loves is overwhelming in the best way. He’s beautiful in all aspects. Ford is the book boyfriend you’ve been waiting for- strong, silent, and sexy AF.“I ran my fingers over my lips. Two summers already? I still thought about that kiss, the way his hands had felt on my waist and how my heart had nearly leaped out of my chest when I’d stood on my toes to taste him. The moment had stretched on for an eternity. I’d compared every kiss I’d had since then to the intensity of it. None had measured up.”Ford and Liv’s relationship is forbidden. Ford’s brother has had feelings for Liv since they were kids, and Liv’s older brother is Ford’s best friend. Their concern for other’s feelings is heart wrenching, but the pull they feel toward one another is undeniable. Their chemistry is so off the charts that the sexual tension and burn of attraction emanates from the page. And when then finally get together?Hold on to your hearts, because It. Is. EVERYTHING. These two are SO MUCH ALIKE in all the best ways, and they bring out the best in each other. Their relationship journey hits you in all the feels. I couldn’t stop cheering them on.“With her hand in mine, I didn’t care if we were in the middle of a bustling restaurant or sitting at home on the couch. Anywhere with her was where I wanted to be.”I also LOVED Liv and Marissa’s relationship. I live for good bestie storylines, and these two have it in every way. I wish I had friends like Liv and Marissa in college. I want to hang out on their couch while Liv makes Ginger Lime Margaritas and Marissa cracks jokes. As for the other characters, all our favorite Kings show up in this fourth installment of the Kings of Rittenhouse series. Declan, Mak, Heath, Kara, Emmett, and Avery spice up the storyline with humor, fun, and true friendship. I love these boys and their better halves. And Colm? You’ll get plenty of him, and he’ll gut punch you so hard that you’ll be salivating for his story.

Ford and Liv💕
The fourth book in the King series is here, and yes I’m behind the eightball because it’s been out for a little while already and I’m only getting to it now! But that said.....I loved Ford and Liv😍 Obviously from the previous books we could see this relationship was bound to happen with the chemistry and connection this couple had, but the obstacles in both of their paths seem insurmountable at times😢Ford and Colm being best friends and teammates is an obvious obstacle, with Liv off limits because she’s Colm’s sister. But the other obstacles were some I didn’t see coming and when all is said and done, I’m just happy when they got to be where they both wanted to be❣️I’m eagerly awaiting Colm’s story and looking forward to seeing how Imogen plays a role😁
