My first experience with the Lily cup
Hello! This is my first time using a lily cup, I'm 23 and I've been researching this baby for over a year. I had my doubts and concern but for the most part most women seem pleased with it. And I wanted to move away from the tampon anyways. MY EXPERIENCE: So I bought this 2 days before my period started and it arrived on Day 1 of my period. I wasn't bleeding too much and I was actually having trouble putting the cup in(I actually didn't fold it right lol) so at first I was abit worried. The next night I started bleeding more heavily so I opted for a second try, (WITH THE CORRECT FOLDING TECHNIQUE) she slide right in with no problems. This was before I trimmed the stem, and only by using the lily cup I realized my cervix sits kinda high up. When I walked around I could feel the stem, it wasn't uncomfortable but I definitely knew it was there, if I was sitting I couldn't feel it, although when I sneezed I could feel it move lol. Now, on the morning of Day 3, I decided I need to pull it out and clean it since I wore it to sleep, I have to tell you I was having extreme difficulties pulling out the cup. I tried to pull on the stem but it was so high up and my fingers were getting really slippery so I would fail every time. I did a deep squat and tried to move my vaginal muscles to push it downwards and it would move down just an inch but not enough for me to grab. I panicked for abt 45 minutes, I looked up how to remove it and it said to keep your body relaxed. Trust me I was freaking out at this point. I was worried I was going to have to ask my boyfriend to help me, but after another 15 minutes or so I was able to calm down and literally(in the deep squatting position) force my muscle to push the cup down. It took several tries but when it was finally long enough for me to grab I used a small piece of toilet paper to grab and pull the sucker out. Once out I dumped the blood and cleaned it and then with a lot of thought I inserted back in. FINAL THOUGHTS: I do love the lily cup, but the only thing that I had troubles with was taking it out. The first night was great but the morning after was terrifying lol. I clean out my cup every 8 hours just to be on the safe side, I still have troubles with it and sometimes I think a tampon would be easier, but I didn't pay $40 for nothing lol. I know I am still new to this so once I can get my body to just push it out without thinking is when I know I'll be able to use this forever, but until then I may have to deal with mini panic attacks that it's lost in the abyss lol. EDIT: 8/9/18 I have been using this same cup for 2 years! This cup has definitely saved me time from going to buy a pack of tampons and I don't have to worry about if I'll overflow, never have I once overflowed with this. Like in my early review I usually take it out every 8 hours, 10-11 if I'm lazy and I don't have much issue with pulling it out. I still have to use a small piece of toilet paper but thats not a big deal, I've come to realize that if the cup unfolds, before I completely insert it, and I still shove it in, I will have major cramps. So I've been careful to not do that. I believe it's something with not having enough air so the cup suctions tightly and can cause pain. But other than that I've been careful to not let it unfold. So you would imagine that having this cup for over 2 years that it would be stained and yes it has been stained GREATLY. I wish I had pictures to show but I do boil it every once in a while and after that I bought a cheap walmart spin brush for like $7 and I would use summer's Eve soap to clean it and it takes a little bit, but running it under warm water and using the spin brush can definitely clear up the stain. I know you can use other soap but Summer's Eve is good to me and doesn't irritate my skin so I would assume using it on a product that goes into my clown hole would be the best thing lmao.

Learn from my 4 years of menstrual cup mistakes
I used the Diva cup for about three years before I decided to try something new. The Diva cup was fine... it never leaked but it wasn’t exactly comfortable. The description suggested I needed the larger size (I’m over 30 and have no children) but I always suspected I needed a smaller size because it didn’t quite feel right. I read the reviews of several cups and decided to try the Lena cup. This time I ordered the smaller size. Big mistake. The Lena cup is firmer than the already firm Diva cup and they both have a thick lip around the top, which made them both unpleasant to remove. What’s worse, I leaked profusely for the first three days of my period, almost like I wasn’t even wearing a cup. I tried different insertion methods and nothing worked. After four months of battling the Lena cup, I did a lot of research. I read that different cups work for different women because of the position of the cervix. I’ve tried finding my cervix before (after reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility) but never felt it, so when I read that some women have a high cervix I suspected this might be me. I also read that the cervix is in its lowest position on the first day of your period so when my next period started, I felt for it. Sure enough, it was there but it was way up there. The Lily cup is longer, softer, and narrower so I thought it may be the answer to my mentrual cup woes. Inserting it on day 1 was a little different than the others because it’s so much longer. After a couple attempts, I thought I had it in place. I dumped it twelve hours later and what happened surprised me... there was no bloody mess. I always got blood all over my fingers when dumping and cleaning the Diva cup and I looked like a field surgeon in wartime when dumping the Lena cup (blood EVERYWHERE). Cleaning is way easier with the Lily cup because the blood is completely contained in the cup with nothing on the outside. No matter which cup I use, it rarely feels like it opens up all the way inside me. That was still the case with the narrower Lily cup but I think it fit right below my cervix so it didn’t matter. Did I mention how much less blood there is with the Lily cup? There’s not even any in the vaginal canal, it’s all contained in the cup. After four years of wearing cups, I can’t believe I didn’t know this was possible. The mess made me dread going to the bathroom, I hated the messy process and the discomfort trying to pull the others out with the thick ring around the lip. It’s a completely different experience with the Lily cup, no discomfort and almost no mess. Every body is different so this cup won’t work for everyone. But if you try a cup and it’s uncomfortable (either wearing it or removing it) or if you leak, don’t put up with it. Try another one. And definitely check for the position of your cervix on the first day of your period... if it’s high or tilted, there are cups made specifically for you. Check out putacupinit.com for great info.

Great for high cervix! But getting ait open can be difficult...
I bought both the size A and the size B of the Lily cup original after the quiz on Put A Cup In It website suggested it for me and my high cervix. (Which I didn't know was even a thing!) I had tried the Diva cup on and off through the years with horrible success. It was just too hard and migrated too far up that getting it out was nothing short of traumatic most of the time! So I first ordered the size A of the Lily Cup and it is MUCH softer and more flexible than the Diva cup. It is also much MUCH longer than both sizes of the Diva. The first month I tried size A I had a heck of a time getting it to get a seal. Especially on my heavy day, it leaked horribly. The other days it did a so-so job. I didn't want to give up on the brand as the cup itself is very well made and its so soft and compared to how irritating the Diva was for me, the Lily was a godsend! So I did some research and decided to order the size B as it is a bit larger, the rim is wider, and it is a tad firmer overall than the smaller size. At first this month was going fantastic! The first day I got the size B open every time and got a good seal! PERFECT! I was excited! But then my super heavy days started. I ended up over filling the cup twice and after that I just could not get a good seal anymore. I don't know if my walls were too slippery or if my cervix shifted or what. After some trouble shooting and research I found that your vaginal walls can change during your period so I ended up switching to the large Venus cup as it is a bit firmer and it opens much easier. (I had found that brand while researching cups and the price was right to order it the same time I did the Lily size B) When I did get the Lily cup to open and seal, it was great. No problems. But this seemed, for whatever reason, to be impossible on my heaviest days. When it did seal it was easy to break the suction and remove the cup. It was comfortable to both insert and remove as well as easy to reach! (big issue for me and the Diva cup!) I also noticed that because the Lily cup is so soft that when it's inside it almost seems to collapse in on itself. The rim itself is open and it is sealed but the cup itself is all squished together and doesn't keep its shape much at all. (At least from what I can tell if I feel around) This is probably fine on light days but I think it is why it over flowed on my heavy day really fast. Because of this it is really hard to get the cup to open if it doesn't right away. With the Venus cup I push against the cup and wiggle it around a bit and it opens, the Lily cup I have to remove and try again. That being said, the cup works if the seal can be achieved but it IS harder to get it open right and failure usually ends up in taking it out, rinsing and trying again. Granted, I may just need more time with the cup to become perfect with it but I think on my heavy days the ticket for me is using the Venus cup large while the other days the Lily cup seems to be just fine. (At least that's my game plan since I have both brands!) In conclusion the Lily Cup really is a great cup. It's well made, it's very soft, and its long for women with a high cervix. However, I'm taking off a star for how difficult it is sometimes to get it to pop open right and get a good seal. Also, at least for me, it seems like it squishes together making the cup hold less. Just some points to consider. What works for me may not work for you. But I am generally happy with this cup, I just wish it worked perfectly every single time. I will keep it around (especially the size B) for my lighter days.

Never going back to other menstrual products!
Menstrual cups have made my life so much easier. This is the only one I have used but I have had it for 8 months and love it! I can't speak to the quality and feel of other menstrual cups, but I did purchase this one after watching many reviews on YouTube of various menstrual cups. The first few days of my period I completely forget that I have it in. It can take a few tries to figure out how to insert it the first time, but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy. It claims to protect from leakage for about 12 hours, and I agree. Sometimes I have left it in a little longer while traveling with no issue (but that will depend on your flow). Toward the end of my period I suspect my cervix must be in a lower position, because it is less comfortable the last few days (sticks out more and irritates the lips a bit). I haven't tried cutting the tail yet, but I suspect that will help. Honestly, it's not even that bad. It's better than using tampons and pads. I used to wear tampons but I would usually also wear a panty liner because tampons would sometimes leak. If you insert this after already having bled, there might be some blood on the outside of the cup that leaks out, but that does NOT mean the product isn't working. It's usually not much if any (and it you put in your cup the night before you expect it to come that can help prevent it as well) but I wear black underwear during my period just in case and haven't had more than a drop or two leak out. For the sake of preventing waste, I don't intend to try out another menstrual cup in the foreseeable future until this one has "run its course" for 5 years or so. (Although I might try the Ziggy cup for period sex.) But I would say that menstrual cups in general, whether you choose this particular product or not, will change your life when you're menstruating. I don't have that leak anxiety or worry about leaving it in too long like tampons (since these can't give you TSS). If you hate the idea of dumping out the blood, maybe this product isn't for you, but I think you should at least give it a try. Because it's not that much and you only have to deal with it twice a day rather than several as with pads and tampons. And it will save you so much money on buying tampons and pads!!! $$$ Hope this helps!

Unrequited Cup Love
I really like the Lily Cup. I'm still new to cups, and in using them I've realized that my cervix is really high, so I switched from a lena to the Lily. The silicone is amazingly soft and the cup is on the softer side in terms of firmness so it is easy to manipulate for insertion. The length is perfect for me and the suction is pretty good. So good in fact that while the cup is easy for me to reach, the suction can be a bit challenging to get around during removal. The shape of the cup including it's tapered base are also ideal for me. Unlike other cups, the Lily doesn't migrate upward, so I can reach it easily and I don't have issues with this cup suctioning to my cervix. This cup also doesn't have a protruding rim, which makes insertion and wear feel very comfortable. So far, so good, right???? Well, there's always something. I really wanted this to be my Goldilocks cup, unfortunately it isn't. I am an avid yogi. As such, my pelvic floor is on the stronger side. So as much as I really like this cup, it's too soft for me. While practicing if I so much as lift a leg or cross my legs the cup leaks. I also notice that I leak when I move from laying down to getting up. So I sleep through the night leak free, but as soon as I shift out of bed, I feel a leak upon standing. I am a full time yoga teacher, so a firm cup that can accommodate the ways I move is paramount. I still wear the Lily (cause i don't want to let it go lol) but I can't rely on it, and can't wear when while practicing, teaching... which is the majority of any given week. I can only wear it towards the end of my period. Ideally I'd like to be able to use one cup. If you have a high cervix and need a cup on the softer side, I highly recommend the Lily. If you are very very active, you may have to be mindful of activity while wearing. If the wonderful people at Intimina are reading this, I really want to love the Lily - it is an awesome cup. I would love to be able to wear the Lily, and only the Lily during my period. Please, please, please consider releasing a couple more options with increased firmness (one around the lena, and even firmer towards the merula sport). I volunteer as tribute to test ;)

Perfect for high, tilted cervix!
I’m in my mid-30s, I have a very high and very tilted cervix (up and to my left), I have vestibulodynia (nerve pain at the entrance of my vjj), and I have been using menstrual cups for 10+ years — from way back in the Dark Ages of Cups (~2007), when we only had the Keeper, the Moon Cup, and the Diva. Since then, I have tried tons of different cup brands, styles, sizes, etc. I LOVE using cups instead of pads and tampons, but the main problem for me has been that they always leak, which is really common for people who have a high, tilted cervix (ahem). A secondary problem for me is that because almost all cups have a very thick lip around the top rim, I find them quite painful (temporarily) to insert and remove because of my vestibulodynia. The Lily is the first cup I’ve EVER USED that does not leak and does not hurt. I can hardly believe it. I’ve worn it for two cycles now and, for the first time ever, was able to not have to wear a pantyliner at the same time. The Lily is a very tall cup, so it’s good for those of us who have high cervixes. I also think the angled rim helps in positioning the cup to accommodate the tilt of mine. The silicone material is *extremely* soft, much softer than any other cup I’ve previously used. Instead of that thick lip at the top that most other cops have, the Lily has a bit of a ledge around the inner circumference at the top. This, coupled with the soft silicone material, makes insertion and removal an EFFING BREEZE and nearly painless, which is honestly a godsend for me. However, the super soft material also meant the Lily didn’t expand/seal immediately upon insertion; it stayed “dented” on one side for several minutes. I had to rotate the cup a few times and use my index finger to press on its side, and eventually it expanded and sealed. Removal was easy, and the stem feels like it’s really strongly connected to the base of a cup and won’t be easily ripped off (a common problem with many other cup designs). Using the Lily was the first time I’ve ever removed a cup where there wasn’t also blood on the outside of the cup (which means no leaks!!). I nearly cried: I’ve finally found a cup that (1) is tall enough (high cervix), (2) has an angled top (tilted cervix), (3) is made of super soft silicone (better for my pain issues), and (4) doesn’t have that super thick lip around the top edge (ditto). I swear, the person who designed this cup must have the same anatomy as I do! SO GRATEFUL, immediately buying another. Thanks a million, Lily!

Did not work for me at all
I had high hopes for this cup as I took a quiz and was told this would be the best period cup for me since I have a retroverted uterus and a cervix that's very far back and difficult to reach. I'm in my 40s and have given birth vaginally more than once so I opted for the larger size (B). Many years ago I used a Diva Cup and had success with it for many years but found it stiff and uncomfortable because I have IC (Interstitial Cystisis) and I found that the Diva Cup put too much pressure on my bladder. I went back to using tampons and pads for many years but am so tired of them, especially now that I'm in my mid 40s and have been having some pre-menopausal issues like heavier periods coming more frequently and at unpredictable times. There's been a couple of cycles where I've had to buy more than one box of pads and tampons just to make it through. Instead of trying another Diva Cup, I decided to give the Intimina Lily Cup a try. Right from the start I knew this was NOT the cup for me. I could not for the life of me get this cup into the right position and it would not expand no matter what I did (spinning it, squatting, moving the cup side to side, etc). It was also very painful and I do not remember the Diva Cup ever being that uncomfortable and I never had difficulty getting the cup to open up. No matter what I tried with the Lily Cup, the sides remained squished together and I was leaking everywhere. I watched multiple YouTube videos, hoping they would help and tried all of the different folding techniques recommended but NOPE! After waking up in tears because I was in so much pain with horrible cramps, I was done. It seriously felt like a tortue device. I thought about trying another cup, or maybe going back to the Diva Cup, but instead tried the Flex Disposable Discs and love them! They are so comfortable and super easy to insert. I will say they are very messy during the removal process and I would never attempt to remove them in a public restroom but I work from home, so it's not a problem. I love the Flex disposable discs so much that I just ordered the resuable Flex Disc and really hope it works as well as the disposables because the disc seems to be a better fit for me than the period cups.

Wish for more sizing info
So, this thing absolutely will not open and I've tried all the tricks (taking it in and out over and over again, running my finger around the edge, 4 different positions to put it in, 6 different folds, the cold water trick, even stabbing a couple holes in it myself). I've used other menstrual cups before, and the main difference between those and this one is the high-low top of the cup. I feel like between the unique shape and not having any holes, there is no way this will open unless you stick a straw up there to get air in or unless I got such the wrong size. The trouble is that I have no idea how to tell what is too big or not. They don't place any priority on which condition to choose your cup. They have the B for those who have given birth or who have weaker pelvic floors and heavy flow, and then the A for people with lighter flow and who have not given birth. They do not say which factor is more important. I chose B because I have a really heavy flow, but idk, maybe that's why the cup won't open, I haven't given birth or anything, and I think the cup is too soft to stand up to the pressure of my muscles. The ring opens just fine, but the actual cup part stays collapsed and squeezed in. Either it needs holes or firmer silicone or a priority level placed on decision factors because this isn't working for me, and my flow is too heavy to move down a size. It's a bummer, cuz I really wanted to love this, I've heard good things too. :(

Takes a while to get used to it but when you do it's good
It has taken me 6 months to get used to this cuo. I primarily use it at night because the ring is actually uncomfortable if you're being very active during the day. And the vacuum on this cup is actually insanely good. The bad part about that is it is a little harder to remove. So as a beginner I only started reaching for this cup after I got comfortable with removal.
