StraightlinePERFORMANCE "Performance" Ice Scratcher, Short

The Straightline 185-101 12 inch scratchers brought my engine temperatures down at least 35 - 45 F. On hard packed groomed trails, I was previously hitting temperatures to 165 F causing me to constantly leave the trail to throw more snow into the tunnel to keep the temperatures down while breaking in the new Polaris 800 engine. Temperatures on my 90 mile second ride, after installation of the scratchers, were rarely over 105 F in warmer weather on the same trails. I'm a believer in scratchers now.Installation was easy - maybe 25 minutes. The package came with Red Loctite which was nice. Note that Straightline recommends the use of the Loctite above 50 F and a cure time of 24 hours. It may have been 34 F when I installed the scratchers so I'll be checking the attachment bolts before each ride since it was outside the Loctite temperature requirements. Daily checks are probably a good thing to do anyway since it's easy to forget putting them up when loading on the trailer, hence ripping wood. I highly recommend these things if you care about your engine and slides.

Complete junk! Horrific! We used these one day for 50 miles on a nice, snowy trail and the wires bent and the tips wore off. The cable is so weak it actually goes under the track. We’d love our money back but it says our return window is over because we bought them in the fall in preparation for the season.

Trying to get one more trip in this year. Ordered these since I was familiar with Woody's and these had replaceable tips.One day and one tip was gone, Temps went back up.I called the manufacturer and they said no warranty.I would try a different brand or style next time.Don't waste your time or money.

Replaceable or not, the tiny point was gone in 50 miles or so. Also, cousin had a set and after a couple days the cable completely shredded. Go with the style with the carbide disc on the end…not the big washer style the small welded carbide disc. Worth every cent.
