Product description Worn box .com As one of the winners of Dr. Toy's 10 Best Games award, the Survival/Extinction Dinosaur Game will be a hit with playful paleontologists everywhere. Players in the game learn about dinosaurs firsthand by themselves becoming the creatures. Each of the 16 player-dinosaurs must make his or her way through the prehistoric world in search of food and struggling for survival. Winning the game means getting to the finish with at least one food token. To do this, players must remember his or her dinosaur's habitat, sources of food, intelligence, speed, and size. Natural disaster cards also teach the hazards associated with everyday dinosaur life. Players will learn about these giant creatures with every fateful step of this creative board game. --Lee Strucker P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer LOOK OUT! A dinosaur is attacking you! You barely ecape. BOOM! A volcano erupts! Your food supply is destroyed. You move out of your natural habitat and into enemy territory. Overcrowding leads to famine. Each turn is a struggle for food. You must stay alert at every moment. Will you survive? Each dinosaur's survival is challenged by the search for food, dinosaur attacks, and natural disasters. It's an exciting way to learn and understand the characteristics of each dinosaur, their natural habitat and the factors that may have led to their extinction. It's action packed, lots of fun, and you can become a different dinosaur every time! Review Dinosaur buffs can "become" a specific dinosaur whose name, habitat, food preference and special characteristics are noted on its card. The game board path meanders through four habitats; in each, native dinosaurs have special advantages. Every square along the path relates to their struggle to survive. (Ruth B. Fun and more!
As a science teacher, I'm always on the lookout for fun games that reinforce concepts. This game is fun-- my 3rd graders love it (and older: former students remembered the game three years later and asked to borrow it to play on a 6th grade free day!). It also teaches good science concepts, unlike many board games that have a science title but then just have the "roll and move" approach that has nothing to do with the concepts. Herbivores, carnivores, habitat, reproduction rate, natural disasters, speed and strength all affect your survival in this game! It used to be available only at specialty toy stores-- I'm glad to see it available here.

Dinosaur Lover
Pros:- This game can be played even by young children at the pre-literate level.- There are alternate rules if no literate players are playing- The game is fun; i.e, I don't cringe when my son asks me to play- The die is for moving you dinosaur, but other events in the game and their outcome is determined by you dinosaurs characteristics.- There are 20 dinosaurs that a player can play, but it is determined randomly so that players don't fight over the same dinosaurCons:- The board is poor quality;, mine was coming apart out of the box- The figures you use look like leftovers from overstocked Sorry games (should have been dinos. I would have played extra for the game for some nice dino figures; luckily I had a bag full that I bought as party favors and had leftover)- The food chips are literally cut up pieces of red cardboard, no pictures- Because there only twenty cards from each category (attack, natural disaster, challenge), if you play more than once, the same cards pop up over and over. Many of the cons can be overlooked, because it is a charming game.

Good Game, Poor Condition
Seemed like it would have been a good game, but unfortunately it must have been exposed to moisture or water at some point because there was mold on the inside of the box and game board seemed warped. Will return.

Box showing signs of age even though it was still wrapped in plastic
The box I received was showing signs of age. The rubber bands were disintegrating and the glue for the box bottom was discolored. In addition some of the cards had discoloration that appears to have been caused by the rubber bands. The dice had a layer of brown crusty stuff that must have come from the rubber bands or glue. I wiped all the parts down with clorox wipes and left them to dry. Couldn't completely get everything clean, but it's usable now.

Great game for Dinosaurs enthusiast
Got this for my 5 year old son who is a Dinosaurs enthusiast. He loves it and keeps wanting to play the game. There are 2 version of the game, one for reader and the other is for non-reader. We played both version and liked the reader version better even though we have some non-reader players. The difference is the non reader is not using the different "colored cards" instead the players automatically lose 1 or 2 food tokens, depending on the rule, if they land on the colored space. We like using the cards because it makes the game more interesting. I'm not into dinosaurs but still enjoy this game.

Enjoyable!
My 4-year old isn't the best at sitting still for board games but he really gets into this one! He's dinosaur obsessed right now so he loves that he gets to play as a dinosaur and he does well remembering their different attributes. There are natural disasters, dinosaur attacks and challenges that seem to hold his interest. We've played it several times since getting it for Christmas & I can see that it will be a favorite for awhile.

Boring
My son's are 9 and 12 yrs old. This game couldn't hold their attention, nor mine. It's incredibly boring, slow and unimaginitive. Small pieces got lost and mangled. When we moved, I threw this game in the trash! Please don't buy this item. There are so many other choices for family fun time.
