Bach/Busoni-Transcriptions, Volume 2

Another brilliant disc
This is another brilliant disc from Demidenko and one well worthy to set beside his previous disc of Bach Busoni transcriptions. Demidenko has a powerful, muscular touch ,where necessary, and virtuosic clarity, when required. He plays a magnificent Faziolini piano which provides rich, resonant, sonorities . The recording quality is first class (indeed, probably better than for the previous disc) and the playing is captured in a warm, natural acoustic. The Chaconne, which closes the disc, is quite the best recording of the piece that I know of, including that by Rubinstein. Demidenko provides an interesting liner note on Busoni and also the Faziolini. I play this disc very regularly and recommend it most highly. It makes a strong case for piano transcriptions rather than orchestral transcriptions as being the best means to serve the genius of Bach.

Busoni's colourful & imaginative evocations magnificently played
Magnificent playing of the colourful imaginative evocative transcriptions of Bach by Busoni, evoking deep spiritual feeling in textual transformations executed with great technical command and capacity. This recording received a "10 De Reperitore France". Recommended above all other available recordings of these pieces.
