Serizawa: Master of Japanese Textile Design

This book presents a brief biography of Serizawa's life, and then concentrates on his work. It's an excellent book for anyone interested in Japanese art, printing and textiles. It has lots of pictures in color and some good close-ups of various pieces.The katazome technique that Serizawa pioneered is awe-inspiring: simple, time-intensivee, free and yet disciplined at the same time. The book conveys these qualities, and leaves the reader with a real appreciation of the artist's contributions and genius. I keep going back to the book and to the artist for inspiration.

Serizawa is a master of combining traditional with modern. This is essential reading for anyone interested in design in general and decorative or textile design in particular.This book is excellent. Of course it would have helped to have had massive pictures but this scale allows them to pack in huge amounts alongside very clear, detailed and useful text.

Very nice book, beautifully illustrated with excellent examples of Serizawa's work. It will be very useful to me as I add it to my collection of books on Japanese art and artists.! Well packed, and arrived within the expected period of time. Shame we dont sell this in the UK though.
