Great Instructional Book
I have purchased other books in this series for previous versions of Photoshop and highly recommend this one. Due to the detailed step-by-step instructions, tutorials (companion DVD) and full-color photos, I continue to return to this particular training book. It is easy to understand and gives the basis for implementing projects requiring Photoshop assistance. One thing I find advantageous regarding this instructional tool, is that it gives more than just one method of obtaining the same results, so you can choose your favorite process, but know there are other methods as well that you might like to try. You can learn at your own speed and always refer back to a lesson or the enhanced video. There is an entire chapter dedicated to showing you what's new in Photoshop CS6, which is informational for explaining the new brushes, layer panel improvements and other features.

Worth Every Penny
Magnificent tutorial - the video is what really makes this work. PS is a very capable program, so by it's nature is very complex as well. She moves along quickly which is okay - there is much ground to cover and you can review the videos as many times as necessary. Then once you have the basics - the book is there for you to deep-dive and really get familiar with each function and submenu.I don't think either component could stand alone - the videos don't go into enough detail - and with only the book, you'd have a rough time finding and navigating the toolbars and menus. This is the way to start from scratch. I'm a newcomer to PS and after only a few lessons I'm already gathering speed.

Good book, but customer care is lacking.
I wrote a previous review on this, but would like to add to it now that I'm a little more into the book. One of the, probably, most used statement in the book is to make sure that you "Reset Adobe Photoshop CS6 Preferences" before opening the program fro another session. This is so that you don't launch Photoshop with preferences that you have set during a previous session. Page 3 gives instructions on how to do this, but they are incorrect and if followed will take you to a very strange land. I had to go to Photoshop, on line, and look for the correct method to do this and the video offered was clear and worked the first time. I emailed the publisher of this book, as suggested, and explained the error and correct method, but to date have heard nothing back. Good customer care. The book states to "Press and hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys (Windows) simultaneously while launching Adobe Photoshop CS6". As stated this does not work. The correct method is to have your fingers over the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys, but don't press until you launch Photoshop. Immediately after launching Photoshop, press on the three keys simultaneously and it will take you the dialog box, verifying that you want to delete the settings file. I took away a star due to poor customer service, but would like to state that the book, in itself, with some glitches, is a good working tutorial and worth the money. Just don't take everything read in it as fact and if you run into trouble, go to the Photoshop site and look for tutorials.

It's great
I am new to Photoshop and bought the latest version of Photoshop CS 6 for the first time. I was looking for something more than my old photo program could provide. I heard that Photoshop was difficult to learn and looking at the program after loading it up I saw that this was a true statement. This book makes this program seem a lot easier and faster to understand and learn, for a new comer to Photoshop, especially with the CD that comes with it. Viewing the CD chapter by chapter then going to the book makes it very easy to understand and a quick learn. I strongly suggest if you buy Photoshop CS6 to also buy this book no matter if you're are a first time user to Photoshop or just upgrading. I don't think you can go wrong with a book as helpful as the Digital Classroom.

Basically the same as it’s predecessor.
For some reason I was expecting a drastic overhaul between CS4 (which I bought) and this one. It’s literally the same exact book word for word with the exception of the additions given it’s a higher creative suite version. I would have kept my CS4 instead of selling it had I known.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book
This book is a must have for anyone who is new to Photoshop. It explains so much in complete detail and comes with all the files needed to create practice images. I have learned so much about Photoshop with this book. It is easy to read and understand, provides excellent instruction and (as a college student) I would compare it to the more expensive textbooks I've purchased for my classes. If you want to learn Photoshop, you will definitely benefit from purchasing this book.
