Chenbro Rackmount 4U Server Chassis RM42200-1

This case was a replacement for a $65 case I ordered and returned because of cheap construction. You get a lot when paying a little more! WELL CONSTRUCTED CASE!! Heavier steel than cheaper cases. Great layout. Lid slides easily with 2 quick release buttons. Parts inside disassemble easily for component installation. Front fan lays down to access drive bays from the front: Very nice. 5.25" drive bays modular. 4 bolts and it's out yet very secure. Purchased separate rear fans, plastic inserts made installation a snap. Good airflow design. Overall fantastic case!

The case looks like it was designed for a standard sized motherboard that had several really long cards plugged into it. There is space for a 4.5" fan and 2 3" fans. These are good for cooling the cards and the motherboard. I have six 3.5" drives and there really is no place to put them. Nor is there adequate cooling for the drives. The case is well made except for the power on push button. It sticks.My first review of this was rather negative since it did not serve my needs however I realize there are use cases where this would be a good value. For example if you did not care about disk drives and were more concerned about having several heating producing cards, like graphics cards.

This is a nice chassis if you need one that is quiet and don't care for loads of hot-swap drive bays. Some of the component cages take 15 seconds to think about how to remove, but with typical chenbro fashion the quality is there. I personally don't like the fold down front panel, but this has a nicer look than their cheaper 4U rack mount chassis. Everything fits well. If you need fans, buy them separately.

I bought this case to shove my old linux desktop into to run as a server. Everything went in easily. The case seems absurdly well-made and I have no doubt that I will be using it for at least the next ten years.

Works perfectly for our needs.
