PentelAin Stein Mechanical Pencil Lead, 0.7mm H, 40 Leads (C277-H)

Pentel seems to always provide the highest quality of any of the replacement leads, especially the Ain Stein leads. Pentel needs to make their replacement erasers the same length as provided with their factory new mechanical pencils.

A very predictable, uniform, and well formulated lead. I use the H grade primarily for penciling comic book work and for laying out fine art. The H grade is highly smudge resistant and erases cleanly with both the Tombow mono and Pentel Clic erasers. Both this lead and the Pentel H grade "Hi Polymer" leads are outstanding. I highly recommend them for serious drawing where you don't want surprise chunks of clay suddenly scraping your drawing surface.

First I doubted if pencil lead could make that much difference, but yes, it does make a difference and this Ain series is really smooth and stable compared to other cheaper ones. If you care this kind of stuff such as write feeling, etc.., I can certainly recommend it along with Pentel Graph 1000 mechanical pencil series which IMO one of the best out there in that price range.

This lead has the level of hardness I was looking for to use with watercolors.

Good quality

Used this lead for an 8 hours hand drafted test and it was day and night different than using your everyday lead. It was a life saver!

I have both the 0.5mm and 0.7mm Pentel Ain Stein leads. I find them excellent.

Good lead, I was expecting something stellar with the Ain Stein lead. Its just good lead not much more to say.
