Easy to use
Straightforward to re key locks. Watched a you tube video to get a clearer idea of what to do besides reading the instructions. Otherwise good value considering I re keyed 6 locks

Accurate and effective in defiant locks
I re-pinned five locks, three of which were brand new defiant locks from home depot and two old kwiksets. I had to look up the lock disassembly method on youtube for the defiant, but other than that the kit worked perfectly.Changing the pins is straightforward to do, but very detailed and fiddly. Be VERY careful not to pull the lock core out without the follower in place, as putting the master pins and springs back in place is way harder than changing the key pins out. Also, make sure to work in a place where you can't lose a tiny pin by dropping it. Working over a tray with edges is a goods idea. The tweezers that come with this kit suck, but they weren't really necessary either.

Works almost as good as the original ones
This rekeying kit was very easy to use. Has all the parts that I need to do more than the two doors/4 locks that needed it probably do two more at least. Only took about 10 minutes per lock and that was with me dilly-dailying. For the money definitely Beach calling a locksmith. Everything fit good works pretty good maybe a little less smooth than the original ones the colors were clearly distinguishable and I definitely feel good about being able to change the key to my home so definitely a good buy makes me feel safe.

This rekeying kit is easy to use
This rekeying kit is easy to use. Just be careful to follow the instructions carefully and you will be fine. The biggest thing that happened was messing up and removing the cylinder follower when I should not have and had the internal springs and pins pop out. If this happens you can reinsert the cylinder follower and remove a clip to reinsert the pins. The first lock took some time, probably about a half an hour, but once you know what you are doing the other locks will probably take you about 10 minutes maximum.I cannot comment if the keys are too similar because I only bought one. The key used one of each color in the cylinder and the longest pin could probably have been deeper as my original Kwikset key had a longer pin, but it works.

I saved tons of money by changing my own locks - works perfectly, takes patience.
My locksmith's quote for changing 6 KwikSet locks (knobs and deadbolt) = $450. I did some research and found I could change my own locks' pins for much less and bought this kit. This process is so incredibly easy to do, if you're kind of handy and patient. I only screwed up 3 times by letting the springs and positioning pins fall out of place, but the instructions guided me through replacing all of those so I could set their replacement pins. I could re-pin a lock in 5 minutes now! The only thing you need is the screwdriver to remove the front from back knob/deadbolt halves on the door.Advice to anyone who is thinking about this: watch an instructional video online about using a pin-changing kit. It puts everything into perspective. The tools and processes are the same.

This kit is a total waste of money. Do not buy it, you will be sorry!
I had seven locks on the same key that needed to be changed. Fortunately, I own a re-pinning set that I purchased on Amazon previously when I had done the initial keying to the same key. I planned on using the key (and pins) from this kit to key six locks, then I would use the pins from the re-pinning kit to re-key the seventh lock. I really only needed the key, but $8 for an index cut (original) key didn't seem too bad. My local locksmith charges $6.95 for an index key, but I would have to take time off of work to go visit them. The first problem was apparent when I opened the package: two pins were missing! I could only re-key four locks with the set. The listing did say it was for up to six locks. No problem.... yet.The next problem was that the key itself was not a quality key. The material appears to be brass, but is very low quality material. The cut cuts were not indexed (cut to order to make an original key), but were instead sloppy like a copy of a copy of a copy. The edges were rough (unfinished). It was just a poorly made key. Finally, a minor complaint: the red and purple pins were indistinguishable by color. The dye was pretty much the same. I lined up the pins sorting them by length instead. Not a big problem.I went ahead and re-pinned my four locks without event. When I went to re-key the fifth lock, I discovered a huge problem: the pins in this set are non-standard! The pins do not conform to the Kwikset standard lengths for pins. I pulled out my handy dandy Kwikset gauge from my re-pinning set and confirmed that the key was non-standard as well. This means that I could not use my real Kwikset pins to re-pin the other two locks to match.Ultimately, I ended up buying a Smartkey Set from Home Depot, re-pinning my locks to match that key and getting the job done.Afterwards, I spent some more time examining the key provided in the set and noted that bidding on the key was really bad anyway. Basically, it had four cylinders set to the same height and one different (the middle one). This would make the lock extremely easy to pick or bump. Kwikset locks are already pretty much the worst you can buy for this reason, but this key would have made it even less secure. This kit is a total waste of money. Do not buy it, you will be sorry!

Doesn't meet specifications
The tools were fine, allowing to remove cylinder without dropping top pins. However, the bottom pins (the ones that actually do the work) are anything but accurate for the positions they are supposed to fit. I wound up only using 4 pins in the lock I worked on, because NONE of the pins would fit the cut. I finally found a specification for the pin sizes and only ONE of the pins actually met spec. Sad.

Great kit for these types of locks.
Does the job no issues encountered.

Useful
Good product, but I had to sand down the push rod so it fit the lock. Easy enough to do. I put it in a drill and used sandpaper while it was spinning. Finished with fine grit to make it smooth.

Re-keying? No problem!
Kit provides all the pieces you need to re-key 3 kwikset locks.Advice1: READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!There is a tumbler follower that needs to be used to push the tumbler out without releasing all of the springs/pins in the lock mechanism. USE THIS TOOL!If you follow the instructions faithfully, you will be able to re-key 3 locks (remove, rekey and reinstall) in about 15 minutes.Advice 2: take a photo of the rekeyed tumbler pin order. This will make it easy to ensure the subsequent tumbler pin orientations are accurate and allow for a trouble free experience.A simple and expensive way to rekey your locks and to avoid the cost of a locksmith.

Pins and key didn't work without filing to fit
First off, I consider myself pretty handy and more than familiar with lock mechanics. When I needed to key 2 locks to match I figure this would be a good kit for the price and a few minutes of easy work vs paying a locksmith to rekey and get a key cut.The item arrived and the plastic bag it ships in was open so the contents had spilled into the larger shipping box with the other items. no biggie, just collect everything and move on.The kit contains everything to rekey up to 6* (more on this later) locks plus 3 keys. In my case I had the Kwikset kit but assume the others are roughly the same. There's a plastic follower tool (which is essential and almost worth the price of the kit - most people won't have one of these and its a tough job without), there's some other long metal tool I didn't need (maybe for releasing lock cylinders in door knobs?_For reference I was working on 2 5-pin Kwikset mortice locks.Remove the existing lock from it's body, insert the existing key and rotate, remove the tail piece, push the core out with the follower tool (keeping the existing pins from falling out. Knock out all the existing pins, remove key, insert the new key, and drop in the new pins (they're provided in colour coded order)This is where I ran into some trouble: I noticed immediately that the pins were sitting slightly proud of the cylinder - they should be flush. This occurred on 3 of the 5 pins, and consequently the cylinder wouldn't fit back into the body. I ended up filing them down (they're brass so not a hard job), at which time they fit. I see other people have mentioned the same issue with pins being too tall so I suspect it's a widespread problem. However even after filing and reassembling the lock I couldn't remove the key. After disassembly, examination, reassembly, still no luck. Then I noticed that the very tip of the key was interfering with the tail piece. I filed about .75mm off the end of the bottom of the key and everything went back together and finally worked (30 minutes later)The second lock had the exact same problem with the same pins and keys but I was wiser for it.So, ultimately they did work but it was a lot more DIY than I was expecting in a kit like this. Finally - they shortchanged me 1 pin so really only got enough to do 5 locks.Quality control seems to be lacking here and I don't recommend this kit unless you're fairly comfortable/familiar with how locks work and don't mind doing some finishing work if required.

Works well, easy to do.
Changed pins on 6 Defiant locks in about 2 hours. After the first one it was clear sailing.
