Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popcorn Kernels

We love popcorn at our house, so a case of this is PERFECT for us. We have a fountain popper and the kids love this brand of popcorn fresh out of the popper.

I've always had good luck with this brand but it's typically around $7 for one bottle at the grocery store. So, this is a killer deal and now I have enough popcorn to last me a year!!! This popcorn is their all-natural version (whatever that means) so it's a bit different than the regular one I get at the store, but still just as tasty. The regular one produces popcorn that's a bit yellow while these kernals are pure white. I think it's just a different variety of corn, but the kernels are still big and fluffy and very few end up un-popped at the bottom of the bowl. I use an air popper to make them and then add butter and sea salt. Movie nights be poppin'!

I love popcorn cooked on the stove and Orvilles white popcorn is my absolute favorite. Unlike other brands it all pops and it pops up big and tender. And it tastes great to me!

I've always purchased the original yellow popcorn in this brand, but after reading some reviews thought I would try the white -- apparently this popcorn is supposed to be more tender and fewer hulls... I can never find OR popcorn in the grocery store in anything but very tiny, expensive jars (like $7.99+ for what looks like about 8 or 10 ounces or so tucked away on the bottom shelf) and I thought this pack of six 30 ounce jars was a bargain in comparison. I was a bit worried about receiving a product past it's prime... The popcorn was still well within the expiration date, so I didn't think I had any worries there. I make popcorn on the stovetop in a big heavy pan: two or three kernels in enough oil to coat the bottom of pan, cover and heat over medium-low flame and wait for them to pop, then add popcorn to cover the bottom of pan in a single layer & cover -- once popping starts, shake until popping slows down and then remove from heat while continuing to shake... Well, here is my experience: the white popcorn seems to take a quite bit longer to begin popping and once it does so, it doesn't pop as exuberantly as the yellow popcorn (just like the old TV commercials, it pops the top off the kettle!). I suppose this could reflect a difference in conditions the product is stored in before purchasing, but just didn't seem as fresh... The pan was not completely full and there were more unpopped kernels than I expected, although maybe white popcorn is more delicate. I have made four batches so far, and tried to tweak the heat & oil each time, but the kernels were not as large and fluffy as the yellow popcorn. I also didn't think they were as tasty as the yellow popcorn. It will be a long time before I need to buy popcorn again, but I will definitely try a small jar of this popcorn before committing to such a large quantity of white OR popcorn in the future...

Great popcorn!! Most all of kernels pop. Love popping my own popcorn - nutritional and I can add whatever toppings I want.

I wish that I liked small-farm, artisanal, heirloom popcorn better than this...but I do not. This GMO'd magical stuff pops up so fresh, big, light, and crisp in my oil popper, with so few unpopped kernels and such tender centers, that every time I try another kind I regret it. I also a little hate myself for buying the individually packaged smaller containers for increasing plastic consumption, but this format does solve the going-stale problem that I have found with larger formats (I move through this steadily, but not at a staggeringly high volume despite my best efforts - I'm just one woman!!). I highly recommend popping in coconut oil and tossing with popcorn salt, garlic powder, and nutritional yeast. This has nothing to do with my product review, I'm just saying, it's the best way to eat the best popcorn.
