Good magnifyer
Gives powerful magnification, whether it's the rated magnification? I have no clue. I know it helps me read small print/pill bottles and sometimes combined with another magnifying tool, the tiniest writing on electronics. If you need truly massive magnification in a compact mackage? Buy two and use them together. I like the Loup style.

Convenient Easy to Use
Light weight, convenient, easy to use. Quality of the lens I’m rating a 3. Value for the money is ok.

Very Nice, Good Value, I Can Read Labels Again!!
I have found that since manufacturers started to put two, three, or four languages, smaller and smaller, on packaging, and I am admittedly getting older, that it is getting to be impossible to read instructions and sometimes ingredients. This can actually be a little dangerous. I decided to get myself at least two magnifiers, one for my bedroom level and one for my living room level. Otherwise, the only one would always be on the wrong level. Of course, Murphy's law. So I found this one. I ordered one with something else I bought. I considered just ordering two, but I decided to try one out first. So I got the first one, and this is very well made and just what I needed. This is not going to be of much use for any kind of heavy reading, but for what I needed, it is just about perfect. It has a self-storing case, so not to lose it, and to protect it. It is small enough for a pocket or purse. The hole in one end is big enough for a shoelace, or a light chain, like a ball chain would work well. Someone had asked, and I think it is hard to tell, but I believe the grommet is metal. It looks like it could be plastic, but I gave it the taste test, and I will swear I think it is metal, not plastic. (It's cold to the tongue; plastic probably wouldn't be.) This is very nice for the price. And I did buy the second one.

Great for fine print!!
The Mrs here. Has changed my world. After eye surgery, I have to wait up to 6 months to get new glasses and can't see any fine print. I take this to the grocery store to read labels, well I take it everywhere I go now. Even sometimes use at home but I have magnifying glasses in all rooms of the house. I attached a lanyard so it hangs around my neck at the stores. No more digging in purse for it. Also (just for my enjoyment) I can open it with a swish and flick of the hand! Except I keep getting the opaque side uppermost and think I've gone blind for a split second. So all the "coolness" just turns to sheepishness! Ah well. Nice little magnifier, just big enough to see a line of fine print. If you need something for heavy magnification this might not be what you need. We also have a jewelers loop and it's not the same so....and if you need a hands free or bigger area magnifier I've found others here on Amazon that are just what I need for the various things I need to do.

Great deal for only $5
As I get older I find myself needing to use magnifying glasses when working with measurements in the shop. I have tried a ton of them, some small some large. My main problem is that I either lose them, or the kids "borrow" them and they are never seen again. There are a lot of misguided reviewers out there who feel that this product does not meet their expectations and to them I would point out that Bausch and Lomb has about 15 different models available here on Amazon starting at $30 and averaging about $45. So why are you complaining when you spent $5?This product is plastic with a glass lens. It measures 3" wide 2" tall and is 5/8" thick. Performance for occasional use is very good, I found no visible distortion when looking at grid paper with .18" squares on it. Some folks are saying its not 10x. Well for one how would you even measure that? When compared to two other 10x magnifiers I have all produce similar magnification so I'm going to say, yes it is 10x.I think this is a perfect product, works well, dirt cheap and came with free shipping. When I lose the one, I'll just order another.

Definitively a plastic magnifier and only marginally useful
I carry it with me to read the back label of products and it has a narrow window of magnification.Would not purchase again.

A good quality magnifier
This is a good quality magnifier. 4X seems like a stretch to me; maybe when you pull way back and focus on a small center of the glass, yes, it's 4X but not so practical to use that way. I bought this for household use but find I prefer 4-inch or larger diameter lenses for that (this one is 2 inches). I just want a wider field of view. So, I think I'll get a larger one for the home and keep this in the car, or for travel. There was a question on if the eyelet goes all the way through so one can thread a cord. At the time of the questions (2014) the answer was no but mine does go all the way through.

DEFINITELY 4X POWER AS CLAIMED - SIZEABLE, VERY WELL DESIGNED POCKET MAGNIFIER
With so many imported magnifiers falsely claiming much higher magnification than they actually deliver, it's a pleasure to find one that really comes through on its claims. For those who don't know, a 4x magnifier will, at the optimum distance, make an object appear twice as wide and twice as tall as it does without the magnifier. Twice as wide plus twice ast all equals 4x. This is also a well thought out design with a firm plastic cover and a release latch for opening it up. The 2" wide lens is ideal for a pocket magnifier, field of view is excellent - anything larger would be too big for a pocket device. A great buy!

i broke the ring surrounding the lens pretty quickly. The lens was of decent quality for mineral inspection. Definitely easier to view with than with the more common tiny 21mm lenses. Even with the broken ring I still use it regularly.
