I like the Woodland scenics range. Always good quality and consistency. This straw is excellent for accenting.

i actually used this without a static machine. Just sprinkled it on some pva glue and moved it around with a toothpick. it looks realistic and the small bag actually gives you a ton because you don't need much for cover.
