Received the black ones as a gift a while back. Finally took them out to use them, and the mechanical pencil separated in two pieces just pulling it out of the box. The pen writes about as well as a 10 cent ballpoint.They do look nice, but that's about it.

I've been using these as professional gifts for friends and clients for years. They are beautifully made, and yes the pencil is a bit iffy with the lead feed not working as well as other professional or designer pencils, but the pen is great and the matching set is very attractive. it comes in a beautiful gift box, the cover is below the set and cannot be seen in the photo. there is also one of the three in the set that can be used as a stylus on your iPad or phone or personal device. It has a rubber tip with the pen retracted, it works well on all Personal Tablets and phones. I was not happy when I couldn't find them at Costco any longer, so I have had to search for them in order to keep using them. They make impressive and beautiful gifts.

Saw these 3 packs at Costco around Christmas time and thought they must be decent quality as they are by Pierre Cardin - with a Lifetime Warranty. So I bought five 3-packs, gave them as gifts to clients and colleagues and kept a few myself. The set's I kept, the mechanical pencil broke and would not work after about 1 month of use. Also received calls from a few of my cherished colleagues and the same thing happened to theirs. Heard from a couple of clients their's broke as well. The pens were fine but the mechanical pencils stopped working - would not click and stop, instead the lead just streams out of the barrel. Certainly embarrassing. If it was a set or two I would have thought well just a fluke manufacturing defect. However most of the pencils broke. Don't buy them for gifts unless you are good with embarrassment.
