Are these scissors sharp enough to cut through 3 tears of fabric?

I have cut through layers of canvas, movers blankets, thick ornamental fabrics. I haven't tried cords or quiltings yet but haven't any doubt that they will do as they should...

are these scissors good for left handed persons?

Yes. Either right or left handed people. My daughter is left handed and she can use them with no trouble.

Are the scissors 8 1/2" from handle to tip, or are the blades 8 1/2"? i want to be sure they fit in my sewing box. Thanks! :)

The Best Brand for sewing.. I love Singer Scissors..

I love Singer scissors. I always use them for my sewing and craft scissors. The blades are straight and sharp. The handle is soft and stable. The lines are crisp and they handle pretty much any type of fabric really well. Singer scissors are the best for your money, in my opinion.
