Mansfield Maple Pure Vermont Maple Syrup in Plastic Jug Grade A Amber Rich, Half Gallon

Really good maple syrup.
This is some of the best maple syrup I have ever had. This syrup is better than what I had been buying locally, and the price is about the same. I always buy the dark, robust (grade B), but I'm sure all of Mansfield Maple's syrup grades are equally good.Just a little update. I ordered this syrup again, and somebody made a mistake some where along the line. I'm certain that the syrup I received this time is not dark robust (grade B). It was much lighter, and had a much milder maple flavor. It was still good, and was high quality, but I do prefer the grade B. I didn't think it was worth the effort to send it back, so I kept it, and used it on flavored pancakes, and in oatmeal. When I order again, I hope I will get what I actually ordered. I'm sure it was an honest mistake, as the price is all the same anyway, but I was a bit disappointed.Mount Mansfield Maple Products contacted me about the syrup I received that I thought was the wrong grade, and told me I could send it back for a replacement. I had already used most of it, so I couldn't return it. They did check the lot numbers, and told me that is was well within spec for grade b syrup. It turned out that some other syrup that I had gotten earlier was much darker and stronger than what is specified for grade b. So, I really did receive the proper grade b syrup. Just a bit of a mix up, mostly on my part. They do have great customer service. I just want to fair to them, and let everyone know that I did receive the right grade b syrup. I really thought grade b should be darker and stronger, due to my experience with other syrups that were out of spec for grade b.

Grade A Fancy Gets An A++
As a native New Englander, I grew up with real Vermont maple syrup on my pancakes and waffles. Here in the Midwest they typically use something called "pancake syrup", an awful concoction of corn syrup and maple flavoring. Yuck. This maple syrup is a grade A fancy with a wonderful light sweetness and a milder maple flavor. This grade is the first product made from boiling down the maple tree sap. In a traditional sugar house they pour some of this grade on fresh snow and serve it with a dill pickle for balance. Kind of like a wine tasting! When I can find a syrup this nice, I order a gallon or half gallon at a time. Because when it's gone, there won't be any more for a whole year. I should tell you it's terrible so there would be more for me, but honestly I have to give it an A++.

Excellent FANCY Maple Syrup!!!!
This is exactly what I was looking for. I grew up in NH, where my dad made MS for fun, and we always made it Fancy grade. I learned much later that is deemed a "Vermont" thing by professional NH MS folks. So weird. I LOVE Fancy, which I know goes by the new grade name.I have ordered from Mansfield MANY times. Always the same quality. LOVE this stuff!

Maple Syrup, You Gotta Try It!
Well, my wife and I made a trip to New England over 20 years ago and we had never had "REAL" maple syrup until we were visited. WOW! the flavor is great especially if you get the top grade. That's another thing about Maple syrup. It's graded as to when it comes out of the pot. Do a little research on "grades" of maple syrup and buy the best. You'll never regret it. This syrup is so light and so tasty. We've had what passed as maple syrup here in Texas when we were younger but didn't know what we were missing out on until we traveled to the region and tasted the real stuff. If you like tasty syrup, try this one and you'll be hooked for life.

Disappointed, Not Fancy Golden Delicate Taste and Not Syrup
I bought this because the price was very good for maple syrup graded as Fancy Golden - Delicate Taste. But it was dark amber with robust taste, which is a much lower grade of maple syrup. It also seemed watery so I heated it up to 211 degrees and measured the density using a hydrometer in Baume scale. Sure enough it was light and not yet syrup. Likely pulled off the evaporator early. Would have been a good deal if it was what it is advertised as. Unfortunately for me it was not a good deal with what I received vs what I paid. Order and shipping was smooth.

I did not have a forvable impression of the syrup Texture
In Maine, purchasing Maple syrup of the internet was questionable from the start. However, the containet listed a business south of New England. I purposely purchased a very dark grade which I had never tasted or seem. Maybe this accounts for my evaluation of the product. I do not believe that it had the maple syrup taste of higher grade syrup. Its texture was thick like corn syrup which influenced my thoughts about the produce.

Doesn’t seem as light and delicate as fancy grade
The product I received from Mansfield Maple, "Pure Vermont Maple Syrup Golden Delicate (Vermont Fancy)" seems to be more of a medium amber, with a bolder flavor, not the Fancy grade I expected. I lived near Mt. Mansfield and my neighbor ran a thriving sugaring business in Williamstown. His Fancy grade product was very light in appearance and delicate in flavor. I'm a little disappointed in this product.

Don’t know which brands are the best, but I like this one just fine.
Vermont syrup is the best because it doesn’t have that bitter aftertaste the less expensive maple syrups have.I don’t know if Mansfield’s is any better than other pure Vermont syrups, but I like it.The company claims the plastic bottles are BPA free and that one can also order the product in glass bottles. For me, that info pushes this syrup up to five stars.
