Far exceeded my expectations!
This thing is FANTASTIC! I gutted 29 pumpkins in well under 2 hours, at an average of 2-4 minutes per pumpkin. They ranged in size from little ones I could hold in the palm of my hand, to huge ones I could barely encircle with both arms, and the Pumpkin Gutter handled them all perfectly! It did take a little bit of getting used to, and a little trial and error to figure out the best way to use it. The first pumpkin took me 7-8 minutes, but once I got the hang of it, things started to go very quick, and each pumpkin only took a few minutes to completely gut. I made two passes on each pumpkin. One very quick one (30 seconds) to take care of the bulk of the strings and goo, and then, after dumping all of that out, another slightly more careful pass to take care of anything I missed. The Pumpkin Gutter did a better, more thorough job than I could ever do with just a scraper or a spoon, and it did it in a fraction of the time. In previous years, I could only do a dozen or so Jack-o'-lanterns, because gutting them was such a lengthy and monotonous process. Even just that many took me forever. This year I was able to single-handedly gut nearly 30 pumpkins in barely 2 hours, and it was was so super quick and easy that I plan to do even more next year! It was also actually less messy than gutting the old fashioned way. All of the mess pretty much stays inside the pumpkin while you're working with it, and then it's as simple as dumping it out into a trash can. There was almost no clean up needed afterward.I'd recommend this product to anyone who plans to carve more than a few pumpkins, and if you do 5+, this is a MUST HAVE. Gutting by hand isn't so bad if you're only doing a few, and it can even be part of the fun. But by the 3rd or 4th pumpkin, the fun is gone, and it just feels like a messy chore. The Pumpkin Gutter takes care of the time-consuming, tedious part of pumpkin carving quickly and easily. I honestly couldn't be more satisfied with this product. There'll never be another Halloween without it at my house!

Great job on a couple of jumbo pumpkins
The shaft is plenty long to reach down into jumbo pumpkins. The length balanced well with my DeWalt 20V cordless drill. I ran it on the lower RPM range as the higher setting tended to create a little more splatter, but I was doing this in the kitchen sink for ergonomic reasons. If you have a good table outside…higher speeds aren’t a problem. While this looks like a standard beater from a handheld kitchen mixer, it is beefier and the leading edges are thinned down enough for good scraping action. The shaft is also a lot longer to reach down into a big pumpkin. To clean it, I periodically took it out of the drill and slid the mass of strings down off it. Not as much was woven into the loops of the device. When I was finished using it, I put it in the dishwasher and only one little fiber of pumpkin string remained which I just pulled off with my fingernail.I did all the pumpkin gutting and my kid carved their pumpkin for the first time. The kid had a great time and really is looking forward to upping their jackolantern art ideas for next year!

Simplifies the job!
This year, I carved my first pumpkin. This tool made the job easier and my husband and I had a great time! Well made, sturdy, great price, and worked easily with drill.

Outside Only!
Worked really great! However, when you head toward the top of the pumpkin, the guts start flying out. Best to do it outside.

Must have for carving!
This tool is amazing! So much quicker and easier than scraping the inside of the pumpkin. You can use this to loosen seeds and all, then just reach in to grab the loose stuff. Way faster, and you can get the carving side of your pumpkin thinned out so it's easier to carve, and your design shows better. It's also just fun to use! To clean, just throw in the dishwasher. This was so worth the money.

Quick and easy
Cleaned out the pumpkins with ease. Husband and I had to work together to clean it off when it got to funky. But all in all a great tool

Surprisingly practical and fun...
Like Alton Brown, I despise one task, specialized gadgets because well...they are only good for one task. They also, seemingly when you need one most, are impossible to find. No matter how well organized one is, rarely used items simply vanish---almost as if they grow legs and find homes that appreciate them more. This pumpkin gutter of terror is an exception---though I suspect it could have more uses if you wanted to mix some drinks without a blender? It is simple yet effective in removing the innards of our squash friends with a power drill. Everything is easily removed from the walls of the pumpkin and can be poured out or lifted out by hand---you can save the seeds to eat too. So if your intention is to carve newly cleaned out pumpkins, save your hands for that instead of scraping the sides by hand. Hand cramps are real if one gets serious about the carving process...find picture online or draw something, transfer picture to pumpkin with tape and poking many holes, carve pumpkin using transferred outline, etc...as my nephew found out last Halloween. Much more involved than the triangle eyes, nose, and a few teeth in the mouth. :)One note about this time saving tool...if used properly, it is perfectly safe even if there is potential for flying strings of pumpkin. However, if you are working around young children that might attempt to put their hands near the gutter while in action, be mindful. There is no question it would do serious damage to little fingers on the business end and I know most know that but there are people in this world that lack common sense. You can find evidence in Amazon reviews if you know what products to research. lol. Also, a pumpkin tip...open the bottom of the pumpkin instead of the usual vine end. Candles/lights will be easier to deal with later this way. Happy carving...

Round Shank
Advertised as able to fit any drill. Shank is not hexagonal like drill bits, it’s rounded. The drill cannot hold it firmly which causes a safety issue if the drill is engaged and this thing flies out.

Good
Great tool for one task only.

Works great, reduces effort and time.
Works exactly as described, if you read the instructions. Guts will wrap around shaft, stop and remove and wipe clean. If you want to save the pumpkin seeds, best take them out before you start when they’re clustered and relatively gunk free and can be easily grabbed in clumps.Scaping the sides was a breeze.

Expensive for what it is but did the job well
For something I will literally use once a year this is quite expensive for what is pretty much just a whisk with long stem. It did however make very quick work of the 3 pumpkins I gutted which would usually take me an hour of scraping with a spoon - probably a minute per pumpkin or less and no hand ache and less mess.

Biggest challenge was controlling drill speed. Hard to gauge thickness of pumpkin wall without poking a hole through it.
