Smokeless, scentless and a good value
Our church has been using this brand of oil for years in our altar candles. It works well and lasts a long time producing a clean, pleasant flame without smoke or scent. This larger size allows us to get a full four months on 14 oil-filled candles at a reasonable price. The product has always been delivered on time as well.

The best clean burning oil for round wick candles, etc.
This paraffin oil in the best you can buy for round wick oil candles. In candles, you have a beautiful large yellow flame without smoke or odor. It will work with a flat wick kerosene lamp, but the flame is smaller, lacks power, and glows yellow/gold color. It was not really made for flat wicks. A kerosene lamp on the other hand, was meant to burn kerosene and it gives a much brighter, powerful white flame, and more heat. However, you can NOT burn kerosene in a round wick oil candle as it will smoke profusely unless you make the wick and flame very small. Plus, this stuff is crazy expensive (like 10x) compared to kerosene. You could easily go through two large containers of lamplight oil in one month in a kerosene lamp. Paraffin oil burns much cooler than kerosene.

Great Lamp Oil for OIl Candles, Oil Lamps and Small Lanterns
This is my go-to lamp oil for my small lanterns and lamps. This will work great for ANY lantern or oil lamp with a 1/2" or smaller wick. If your lamp / lantern has a wider wick, consider using Medallion Clear Lamp Oil. As a note on THIS product, there is a VERY SLIGHT odor. It kind of smells like hot wax when it burns. It's not off-putting or anything, but if you walk into a room with a lantern burning this, you might notice the slight smell. There is a lot of confusion on what oil to use in lanterns, but it is really not too difficult to understand.THIS product is a PARAFFIN oil. Paraffin oils are great for INDOOR and OUTDOOR use in lanterns and lamps with 1/2" or smaller wick, as well as in oil candles. (Some will say you can use this in lanterns up to 1" wick sizes, although most "experts" would advise not using this on wicks larger than 1/2" because it can soot up or clog the wick).Standard Lamp Oil (Like Medallion Clear Lamp Oil) is also safe for INDOOR AND OUTDOOR use. It is NOT paraffin based. It can be used in all lamps and lanterns no matter the wick size, but should NOT be used with oil candles. You can also use K-1 Kerosene (ultra pure and clear--NOT THE RED STUFF). Kerosene can be used in oil lanterns and lamps but I believe it is best for outdoor use only. It can NOT be used in oil candles. And that's all you really need to know!Hope this helps!!

Great Product
This is the only brand of lamp oil that I will buy. It burns clean, and doesn’t leave any residual soot behind. I highly recommend this product.

Price advantage
Lamplight Farms has gone through a lot of logos and bottle designs over the years, but despite their confusion the actual product is a consistently good performer. On price, there are other brands out there and a wide variety of quantities, but do the math and the best deal is somewhere around 24¢/oz.We use this in antique barn lanterns as well as in oil candles we have on the fireplace mantle. The barn lanterns, ordinarily to be used with kerosene, stay cleaner with this both on the wick and on the globe. Since the lanterns are old, it is good that we don't have to take them apart as often to service the wick and scrub the inside of the glass. For the oil candles, using the "ultra pure" variety = smokeless and odorless, and by sticking with clear, we avoid colored dye that can foul the glass and the wicks.Note: being wax, this liquid freezes pretty easily, turning solid. We use the barn lanterns outdoors, in the summer while grilling on the back deck, so no risk of frozen fuel. But be advised for winter use to store this above freezing or you could be surprised come time to use it. Thaws fine so it's not ruined.Lamplight for years had a type of bottle on which you could use an aerator nozzle that the glassmaker Wolford sold as an accessory. The item screws on top, in place of the cap, and allows you to pour directly into the lantern or oil lamp from the bottle without a mess. By tipping the bottle upside down, a bubble would start the flow and you can easily control when you're done by simply tipping back. Remainder of oil goes back down the nozzle, no cleanup nor messy funnels. For some reason Lamplight has been varying the cap size so that this cool little fillup nozzle no longer fits. We are refilling an older bottle from the newest ones. Otherwise, it looks like a real fire hazard to try to pour from a big bottle like this into a little bitty oil candle. I hope their lawyers are aware of their problem.Shipping note: the vendor ("Great Household") took the time to add a strip of packing tape over the cap and down the sides of the bottle. That keeps it from working loose and leaking, thank you.
