The 1912 Election and the Power of Progressivism: A Brief History with Documents (The Bedford Series in History and Culture)

Lots of primary sources, little explanation
This text is primarily a collection of speeches and other primary sources from the 1912 election. The subtitle is "A Brief History with Documents"; be aware that it is a very brief history indeed, with the emphasis placed on the documents. It's a small, rather short book, and I would have appreciated a more substantive history of this fascinating turning point election to accompany the documents.

Required reading
I enjoy these books. This one was required reading for a US History course and I like the choices of speeches and pictures.

Zzzzzzzz
Let’s just say this... Whoever wrote this is probably a liberal, extremely old, ugly and boring, doesn’t shave their pits or pubes, and gets offended at just about everything you can think of.... enough said....TRUMP 2020!!

Good Solid History
Great book, good information, and tons of articles and speeches from the time period. Smaller than I expected, but chalk full of good articles.

Amazing Primary Resource Book
I not only had the pleasure of reading the book for a class on 20th century American society and politics, but also took the class with the author. Dr. Flehinger provides insightful introductions to each chapter and organizes the resources in a meaningful and thoughtful way. The documents that are included are by no means comprehensive of the subject (however the bibliography will lead to more), but they are well chosen to support his arguments. Included are speeches, cartoons, letters, and government documents. A must for any serious student of early 20th century America, or just for the history buff in us all.
