Product Description After years of separation, the two voices and acoustic guitars that laid the foundation for pop music were united again to harmonize in London's Royal Albert Hall as thousands of fans who flocked to the scene were joined by generations of musicians they inspired, from the Beatles to the Beach Boys. With an all-star band featuring keyboardist Pete Wingfield, guitartists Albert Lee and Martin Jenner and drummer Graham Jarvis, the Everly Brothers sing 20 of their greatest songs, proving originals are still the best. Songs: Claudette, Walk Right Back, Crying in the Rain, Cathy's Clown, Love Is Strange, When Will I Be Loved?, So Sad (To Watch Love Go Bad), Bird Dog, Be-Bop-a-Lula, Barbara Allen, A Long Time Gone, Step It Up and Go, Bye Bye Love, Wake Up Little Susie, Devoted to You, Love Hurts, ('Til) I Kissed You, All I Have to Do Is Dream, Lucille, Let It Be Me. .com Some things never change--and when it comes to the Everly Brothers, that's definitely a good thing. Seen here performing at London's Royal Albert Hall in 1983 following a lengthy and acrimonious split, Don and Phil barely miss a beat. They were in their mid-40s, and performing together for the first time in some 10 years (Phil had smashed a guitar and walked offstage in what you might call a fit of pique), but their harmonies are as perfect as ever, to the point where it's hard to tell who's singing which part. Backed by a band of crack British musicians, they run through some 21 songs, including a dizzying array of hits. "Crying in the Rain," "Wake Up Little Susie," "Cathy's Clown," "Bye Bye Love": the Everlys may not have written most of their tunes, but they sure know how to pick 'em. This is the real deal. --Sam Graham

All I can say is....AMAZING!
WOW! OMG! You only had to look at that crowd to know how much impact the Everly Brothers still had and to a very varied group of ages. That is because they are timeless! Since they first started singing they touched hearts all over the world. I remember back to 1957, I was 7 years old and my two older brothers listened to them, even then I was transfixed. To this day I find a little piece of heaven when I hear their exquisite harmonies. They not only touched the hearts of their fans they also influenced many singers that followed them. What a joy to have shared in their beautiful melodies.

Magical!!!
I have always loved the Everly Brothers. So many of their songs are gorgeous and some are upbeat and fun. I love the ballads the most. The 1983 Reunion Concert was very emotional for the entire audience...such a joy to hear them sing together again after a 10-year separation. Their voices were richer and more beautiful, and they both looked happy. I remember the words to many of their hits, and the music takes me back to my life at that time and lots of memories. Songs can evoke the time and place in the past. They were not only very talented but both were adorable to look at and still handsome in their 40's in 1983. Their blended voices are like a 3rd abstract entity, and the sound of their harmonies is magical. There has never been a more beautiful sound to my ears. Their albums after 1983 are also brilliant. I listen to certain songs almost every day and they never get old. A stunning and beautiful concert that I will enjoy many times.

Awesome
I am writing this review as the Ashlee Simpson/SNL lip synching controversy stirs. Oh horrors, our current pop stars are fakes! In that environment, I finally got around to buying and rewatching this Everly Brothers concert from 1983. By the end, all I could say was WOW! What voices! What talent! It is such a shame that popular culture took such a wrong turn somewhere. But did anyone go in and do CPR on that crowd, or are those stiffs still sitting in Albert Hall? What was up with that audience? I'm an old fogey now, but I KNOW I would have been up and shaking my tailfeathers during "Bird Dog", "Claudette", "Lucille", etc.. This band and the Everly's really rocked that night! Shame the audience was velcroed to their seats.Actually, I bought this after going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Seems that during the 50 minute film on the Hall's inductees, they couldn't afford a single second to allow you to hear this duo's voices. I was left empty and just wanted to hear their harmonies again. I am absolutely blown away. I believe Paul Simon said their influence far exceeded their fame. He is so right. The Everly's get a 5 for this DVD. The makers get a 3 for leaving songs out and giving no extras. I average that to a 4.

Wonderful
My older sisters were of the generation for the Everly Brothers but I think I had them in my psyche. I am of the Beatles generation but I can hear the Everly Brothers in the Beatles. Regardless of the generation, the E.Brother's music are part country and part rock. Listening to them on this DVD brings tears to my eyes. Their voices are so pure and they soar to beautiful heights. This is one great DVD and I can recommend it to anybody who wants to hear the genesis of rock & roll even before Chuck Berry. Beautiful music, beautiful voices. Worth the price.

Everly Brothers Forever Great!
I had heard so much about this reunion concert that I just had to have it! I love everything of and about the Everly Brothers, especially Don Everly! I've had a crush on him for over 50 years and he still looks great! I think It is HIGH TIME a movie was made about them!!! They have led fascinating lives!! More interesting than Johnny Cash or Buddy Holly or any other singing star!! They didn't have a serious drug problems, or drank too much, they were decent, honest, fantastically TALENTED singer/songwriters. I just wish a more detailed biography of them was available, other than the one I have.

Everly Brother Reunion Concert
This is a great addition to any rock and roll lovers collection. The Everly Brothers are the real deal, and this concert from Royal Albert Hall in 1982 shows that they can rock, sing country, and make you cry with their ballads. Of all the greatest early rockers, I think these guys influenced more acts (especially UK ones) than anyone except Chuck Berry. Also, this has 5.1 surround, so that should make your viewing even more enjoyable.

THEY COULD STILL DO IT
Just how did they do it? After a huge and successful career, these brothers fell out big time in 1973 and actually walked off stage right in the middle of a performance! Was it booze, or was it a nervous breakdown? Their split was well documented, but the real reasons were never spelt out. However, each of them then followed individual careers for a decade, the late Phil having the most success. By the early 1980s, they saw fit to patch up their differences -- the result of which was a friendly coming together for a Reunion Concert, held here in the UK at London's Royal Albert Hall on 23rd September 1983. It was such a huge and unforgettable success, so much so that it even prompted Paul McCartney to later write 'On The Wings Of A Nightingale' especially for them. This DVD represents most of the event and lasts a whole 120 minutes, but do beware of 'bonus' DVDs though, put out with cheap reissue CD sets, as they only last a mere 75 minutes. It was like they'd never been away, and they both sang and played hit after hit, the ones we'd bought when we were just teenagers, continually looking at each other's eyes in order to keep their trademark harmonies as tight as ever. But why London? Melting in sweat underneath their bow-tied evening suits, and to rest their now aging bodies in between songs, there's a bit of chat, and we're told that they 'had such fond memories of performing there with their Dad, Ike Everly, founder of their family's 'Kentucky scene', they chose our country's capital to make their come back'. I'm sure you must know all the songs only too well -- there's a good 25 of them, from country-based American folk, to sweet teenaged pop and pure upbeat rock 'n' roll -- yes, believe you me, they could still do it, and almost perfectly 'live' on stage too ... and that's sheer class, the sign of real talent from a pair of true professionals, not forgetting the able and sympathetic also the backing provided by some hand-picked British stalwarts, Albert Lee and Pete Wingfield to name but two. Love it!

A different reissue DVD
Brilliant performance by The Everly Brothers of their reunion from 27 years ago. This reissued DVD by Eagle Vision is a completely different from the first release some years ago. As the concert was originally recorded over 22nd/23rd September 1983 different song performances were edited together. In this DVD version it's the same lineup though for some reason 'So sad (to watch good love go bad) has been ommitted but additional songs: Medley-Take a message to Mary/Maybe tomorrow, I wonder if I care as much and Temptation have been included. This DVD also includes a bonus feature: Highlights of a video called 'Rock 'N' Roll Odyssey' released in 1984 during The Everly Brothers reunion concert. The original video was 75 mins and on this DVD it has been cutdown to 45 mins. All the original full length songs, clips from TV shows have been ommitted as well as others, though tiny snippets are included. The relevent interviews with the Everly Brothers are intact. I have the original video to compare with which is brilliant but this bonus feature highlights have been heavly cut. But despite this the documentary is still great viewing. The picture quality is just slighty upgraded than the original VHS version. In the 'rock 'n' roll odyssey' documentary watch out for the different 'Alternative Date' complete performance of 'Let It Be Me' from the reunion concert at the end of the programme. This is a great DVD package, though it would be nice to see the full lengh version of 'Rock 'n' Roll Odyssey' on DVD with all those historical full length clips intact.

'THE CELEBRATED CONCERT OF THE FABULOUS 'EVERLY BROTHERS'
(A Slightly different take/track-list of the Concert to the DVD I reviewed recently which i'd owned for several years now, thisa later release of the Concert in 1983 and to be honest being offered at a somewhat more attractive price on Amazon tothe version reviewed earlier)Don was born in 1937 in 'Browne, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.Phil was born in 1939 in 'Chicago' Illinois. They received 'The Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame' award in 1986 - 'Country Music Hall of Fame' in 2001.During their early years they performed on K.M.A and KFNF radio in 'Shenandoah' with their parents - The Everly Family Show'In 1956 as a duo they signed up for RCA records but had no success, in 1957 they were persuaded to sign for the 'Cadence-Label'this signalled the beginning of a sparkling Chart Career for the Brothers, three years later they switched to the Warner-Label, theirfirst release penned by Don and Phil proved to be their most successful Chart-Hit ever - 'Cathy's Clown'They continued to pepper the charts both sides of the Atlantic especially during the early 60's, but faded some during the grouprevolution of that time.In 1973 sadly after a fall out they split and pursued solo careers, 'Don' had some moderate success in the U.S Country Charts, 'Phil'had very little however, but as fans will know did have a Top-Ten hit in the early 80's with 'She Means Nothing To Me' sung with 'CliffRichard'When they performed their reunion concert at the 'Royal Albert Hall' in 1983 it sure pleased many of their 1000's of fans that had followedthem during the early years like myself. As mentioned before i was fortunate enough to have seen them on stage, firstly in 1962 though 'Don' had returned to the 'States' withhealth issues, 'Phil' continued the tour, however on their 1965 tour i was able to see both on-stage.Sadly i was unable to attend a concert at the local venue during 'Don and Phil's' farewell tour in November 2005, i'd have loved to haveseen them perform one more time. This release i've owned since it's DVD release, the reunion in front of a packed audience at the Royal Albert Hall 'September 23rd 1983'Pure magic, great memories, and good quality picture and sound. They continued performing together until 2005, the Brothers inspired many that followed them in the 60's including 'The Beatles' 'The Stones'and 'Simon and Garfunkel'The Track list on this DVD -01 Claudette02 Walk Right Back03 Crying in the Rain04 Cathy's Clown05 Love is Strange06 'Medley' - 'Take A Message To Mary' / Maybe Tomorrow07 Wonder if i Care As Much08 When Will I Be Loved09 Bird Dog10 Be-Bop-a-Lula11 Barbara Allen12 Put My Shoes Away13 Long Time Gone14 Step it up and Go15 Bye Bye Love16 Wake up Little Susie17 Medley - 'Devoted to You' - 'Ebony Eyes' - 'Love Hurts'18 (Till) I Kissed You19 All I Have To Do is Dream20 Temptation21 Lucille22 Let it be Me23 Rock'n'Roll OdysseyThis an essential must-own for all fans of this inspirational duo surely..Sadly as all will i suspect know - 'Phil' after a long illness passed away 'January 3rd 2014

Returned product & requested another in it's place, fair play the sender did send another one (brand new & all wrapped up, like the first).Yet when I tried to play it same thing happened again at the same points in the dvd.Gave it up as a "Bad Batch" returned to sender and got a full refund.

THE WONDERFUL EVERLY BROTHERS
This is an absolutely wonderful DVD, received in excellent condition and very promptly. I would recommend it to anyone - the Everly Brothers were on top form, and my only criticism is that the original concert was cut down to the normal DVD length. It is a shame that this was done, and I would love to see the entire performance.
