... once I can use my back deck without feeling like I am in a frying pan
I live in the south in full sun and purchased large Coolaroo's and these smaller ones and for once I can use my back deck without feeling like I am in a frying pan. They shade the porch and the house enough that my air isn't working quite as hard and even though water goes through these it's much less so my plants are thriving even with the daily thunderstorms of summer. Mine have only gone up recently but three people I know have now bought varying sizes of sail shades after seeing them. I am now a huge Coolaroo fan and am providing a picture of how we installed ours.

Durable, breathable, quick shade.
Great shade. Durable. My 6th one. I added a couple each year. 3 are 4 years old! I'll leave them up all summer long to the fall and take them down before the winter. They shed water since they're porous and let Wind through Great for pets in this heat. Can take the wind! 25 mile gusts! They come loose but never torn. I didn't have anything to tie them to on the back side so I used two Shepherd hooks. I put them in concrete blocks with gravel. it's a double hook and I staked the other side, works great. I put three together. Vents well. If the wind blows too hard they just come off the hook. Cuts the heat. You can definitely feel it when you're standing underneath them in the Sun.

Coolaroo ROCKS!!!
Well, what can I say about Coolaroo? They are hands-down a great company with a great product. I own several Coolaroo shades, and they are TOUGH and EFFECTIVE. In this particular instance, I purchased two of these triangle shades to position over my dogs' splash pool. With the high winds here in Las Vegas, these babies hold up beautifully. My gazebo cover (NOT made by Coolaroo) got shredded by the winds here, but my Coolaroo shades laughed. I would positively purchase these again!

LOVE!!!!
This is my 3 rd sail. I use them on my 2 story deck at the warehouse I'm living where using anything else doesn't work. I have DIY them on my deck and have used them for over 10 years I think now. I just now have had to get new ones, but I think I can repair my old ones too. It's a cheap way to go if you are on a budget and don't like umbrellas. I can't use umbrella, they just fly off my deck. These are best ones made on the market I think.

Functional, durable shade in a fun color
We hung this shade over our back patio where it helped block direct sunlight and cool down the area slightly. I love the bright yellow color. Note that this is designed to allow water to run through it, which was good for our needs because it also allows wind to pass through it.l, reducing tension on the sides. We ordered a separate hardware kit on Amazon to hang it. It has held up well for several months of bright Colorado sun and temperature swings. We just took it down for the winter so that snow doesn’t accumulate on it. But we’ll look forward to using it again next year.

Good product.
We put three of these up last year and while they work great, we found that we wanted a bit more shade than they provide*, so these are to supplement those and cover more area. The kids love going under the shade and we do, too. We have one under the apple tree, over a glider, to keep bird droppings, leaves, apples, etc., from dropping on our little sitting area, and it also catches stray sun that comes through the leaves. All the others are over a larged paver patio in the back yard. We put up 4x4's and string them between the poles and it really does make it cooler. Plus, flowers and herbs that had baked in the sun previously did great under that amount of shading. We were surprised to learn that basil and parsley do NOT like baking, even with frequent watering. They did so much better with some shade. We took them down in late fall and stored them over winter and put them back up when the weather got hot. No signs of wear or deterioration on any of them. They have stood up to snow, rain, hail (small), and 50-60 mph winds during storms. They do a bit of flapping, but no ripping or tearing.*We know now to allow more for the 'moving shade' as the sun stays put while the earth rotates; we didn't factor that in first time. Our shade kept moving away from our seating areas. These new ones will go up a few feet south of the original ones to allow for the sun being at more of a slant.

Great product
I purchased the Coolaroo Party Sail (9ft) --- bought one in blue and one in orange and both colors are very nice.It was very easy to hang (2 sides attached to large trees and the other to a post) and it provides a certain amount of shade for me in an area that is brutal during the morning hours. The shade that this size Sail provides is minimal, but for me provides just enough shade for my patio for when I sit on my outdoor bench. The sail provides a little more shade than an umbrella does, but with the sail, I don't have to worry about windy days when my umbrella gets turned over or I have to chase it across the yard. Also, when it rains, water does not collect as the fabric allows for the water to go through. All around, it's a very nice alternative to umbrellas that I have to keep replacing after they get damaged by the wind. I plan to get a larger one for another area of my yard. I'm very happy with the product and the price was good too!

Sturdy with shade
Bought 2, 8 yrs ago tried different brand but came back to Coolaroo! They're superiorly made using better fabric. Kept up year round. Not sure if rec. by manufacturer but washed in my washer using some bleach re-hung while wet and looked brand new. I would not use a dryer with this fabric.

Sun Sail: Inexpensive, cuts the sun, still in good condition after 3 seasons.
It was purchased to cool down and shade my small back deck so that I can work outside into the afternoon, on my computer, during the warm months. As a portable sun shelter, it is light weight and easy to set up provided you have trees or other points to tie it to. It comes with three ten foot cords.Update: it is more durable than I expected. I wish it came in 8’x8’x8’ as the size I bought was really too big for what I wanted. The sail has a loose weave, that will cut the sun, but allow breezes and rain through it. I haven't had it long enough to speak to its durability. I suspect it needs to be taken down during winter months (I'm in Montréal, so conditions can be quite harsh, November to April). It is inexpensive, compared to similar products. If it through lasts three summers, I'll be content. It measured as having a slight difference in dimensions (9'9", 9'10",9'9") but that seems insignificant. The stitching is mostly single row, but neat. I wish it came in smaller sizes!!!As a semi-permanent sun shade, it is an inexpensive experiment, and I didn't expect that I was buying something with a lifetime of use. I think that if it works well, I will eventually replace it with a more durable, and more expensive version. For picnics, or tailgate parties it should be a winner. With those caveats, I would recommend it to a friend.Addendum:Installed for ten days now, including two separate nights of powerful thunderstorms. It is holding up well. Rather than buy a ready made installation kit, I bought cleats and concrete-tapping screws from a local hardware store, as it was less expensive. The weave has loosened slightly, at least, it is more translucent. I think this is a feature, as it lets more breeze and light through. I may buy another one in a contrasting colour next summer.

Like the color, waiting to see how it holds up as a permanent installation
We bought this shade sail mainly because it’s colorful. In fact, my wife was a little taken aback by just how bright the color is, even though it’s exactly as shown in the image! One thing to be aware of is that this is really intended for temporary installations at campsites, etc. It comes provided with cords for installation, but you need to buy hardware for something more permanent. Will see how it holds up over time, but it was reasonably priced.

great size
This was the best size for the space over my deck. AND the feature is that it doesn't hold the rain. Other sail cover that I have keeps a pool of water in it like a bowl after a rain. THIS sail lets the water run through - we only need it for shade and it does that. The grommets are strong and it holds it shape really well.

Great sail, just choose the right colour
Nice sail! I got the blue which seriously just looks like cut of tarp (which a few people commented on). Wanted green but price +++.Worked great, kept the area cool, just.... looked like a tarp so returned and went for another colour and style

Great for filtering the sun, but doesn't block it.
Ordered 2. I was originally going to return them because they weren't providing enough shade, but I decided to try adding a 3rd one. That worked out well. Still doesn't block the sun, but provides enough of a filter that we can use our deck during the afternoon sun. They look great too.
