Discrete Mathematics: An Open Introduction

A great introduction!
I use this book in my introductory discrete math course. It’s a great introduction to the subject. Levin provides concise explanation with many examples to help with the material.I hope a future edition will include more on relations (partial orders and equivalence), matrix representation of graphs, and big-O notation.

The least dry math book I've encountered! Great for self-study.
I love this book! The author really goes out of his way to keep it engaging and meaningful. This is probably my favorite math book ever.

Hard to understand
This book was difficult for me, a beginner, to understand. It lacked examples showing the basic, foundational parts of the concepts it discussed. Instead, it jumped into complex, deeply layered examples that left me and many of my classmates overwhelmed. Start somewhere else, or watch Youtube videos where the basic concepts are stated plainly and go from there.

Great Book
Available digitally online for free, but easier to read and annotate in print. Also this book will be around for reference once the website is gone.

Would not recommend.
Horrendous book! It feels like the author intentionally tries to confuse its readers and describes easy concepts in a very complicated way. Several times while reading this book I caught myself thinking “as soon as I am done with this class, I am burning this book”.

Better books out there for learning differential math
As a learning guide this book is somewhat haphazard which can be misleading. Moreover it fails to explain and demonstrate concepts in details. Look for better options to learn that won't frustrate you

Free Book Worth Buying
The text of this book is available for free online with a very easy-to-navigate website designed just for it. I used that website during my discrete mathematics class. With that said, I used the printed textbook I bought more. For me, there's something about having the textbook in front of me that enables me to do better in a class. I'm glad I bought it. It's not that expensive, after all.If you like physical books, it's worth the extra handful of dollars for this copy.

Genial
Exatamente o que queria num livro de matemática discreta. Lógica, grafos, sequências, combinatória, perfeitamente definidos e explicados, com exercícios e exemplos.

A Great Textbook
This textbook is very clearly written. The examples that are in the textbook are explained in detail. No step is omitted. The author could not have done a better job of making the examples easy to understand. Sometimes the subject matter is difficult and effort will be necessary to understand the material, but I think that this is probably the most user-friendly textbook on this subject. Also, the answers to most of the exercises are in the back of the book, and most of these answers have an explanation.

Good explanations, great range of topics
I really enjoyed the chapter on combinatorics specifically. The way permutations and combinations were presented and explained (along with the exercises that came with) made my understanding of these types of problems much more intuitive than before, where I would always struggle to recall a formula I am now able to derive it from just exploring the problem.
