Kawaii Bento

Really liked this book. The designs were cute and something anyone can make with some practice. The recipes were also pretty good, I'm still trying them. I also liked how she split the book by catagory so it was easier to find themes that I wanted to try when making my own bento. I recommend this book for anyone into making charaben bentos and for those with little kids. Her bentos are very appealing and balanced. Especially considering it's really hard finding good charaben bento books in English and believe me I've tried. It's unfortunate but japantown doesn't carry bento books translated in English.

Not sure if this a practical book or just a visual artist representative work of food I enjoyed this book but I was underwhelmed by the useful content

Love this book! Very clear instructions for each of the bentos as well as some excellent tips on colouring rice and boiled eggs. There is a photo to go with each recipe, templates at the back of the book and step by step instructions at the beginning on how to shape rice and potato balls as well as make omelettes. Beautiful photography throughout. A really lovely book.

its basically a book about making "kawaii" looking rice but really no recipes for sides and others much. Only the princess and bears and little bird characters part... More about the "decoration" than "cooking"

Das Buch ist an sich sehr liebevoll gestaltet und auch verständlich geschrieben. Wer hier allerdings Rezepte erwartet, wird enttäuscht werden - das Buch handelt vor allem um das Dekorieren des Bentos. Das eigentliche Füllen mit Essbarem wird ausgelassen. Ein Beispiel - es wird ewig herumphilosophiert, wie man ein Spiegelei verschönert fürs Bento - im letzten Satz wird dann erwähnt, dass man das Spiegelei dann auf irgendetwas zu Essen drapieren soll, z.B. gebratene Nudeln mit Gemüse. Es wird allerdings keinerlei Rezept o.ä. mit hinzugefügt.Wer Dekorieren lernen will ist hier gut beraten - ein Rezepte-Buch ist es nicht.

This book is really easy to follow, has great pictures. It is more about design than recipes, but great recipes included.
