So You Want to Be a Producer Paperback – 6 September 2005

Heads up, this book is definitely a memoir, not a manual which pleasantly surprised me. I feel that the anecdotes from his career and reflections on his experiences were inspirational as well as informative. Also loved his voice, it’s full of character and personality. If you want to be inspired and already possess or want to foster the qualities he states a great producer has, this is a great read that will give you tips and point you in the right direction. If you’re looking for a straightforward “how to” textbook, this may not be the book for you. But as he says, there’s no straightforward path to becoming a producer. I think this writing approach expresses that theme well.

Aunque es pequeño contiene mucha información de como funciona la industria cinematográfica y televisiva en Hollywood. Viene muy completo, con ejemplos y la información necesaria para saber de este negocio; perfecto para leer por hobby o en este caso para dedicarte profesionalmente a esto.

Sometimes the author talks about a lot of people I've never heard about without introducing them. When this happens I usually loose attention. I don't live in hollywood, so I'm not friend of all the people in the industry like the author is. Apart this, the book is really precious. I'd like to suggest it to everyone that wants to produce something or just wants to understand a bit of how the entertainment business works.
