Pentair 355329 Front Housing O-Ring Replacement Pool and Spa Pump

I ordered 2 of these, one to install & one to stock as a spare. The 1st one ordered was the same as the original O-Ring; a square cross section O-Ring. That's the one I installed in my Pool Pump Housing. It's working great, no leaks.The 2nd one ordered is a circular cross section O-Ring. I guess I'll know eventually if it works as well as the original square O-ring. From the posted Reviews, the circular O-Ring appears to have mixed success.My guess is that Pentair (possibly in error) tested circular O-Rings & deduced that it will seal the same as their original square O-Ring. As to the reason for the substitution, I imagine it's cost-related in the manufacturing costs.

It's amazing how gaskets easily go bad...shrink in my case. Ordered this one and it came kinda squished, but worked perfectly. Stopped the leak. Mine...the cross section is not rectangular as some reviewers here state. The gasket is circular cross section.

I ordered a square shaped O-ring but received the round shaped O-ring. I already had the round one and it leaks. The round is not original equipment . A waste of time and money. A lot of these replacement parts are made in China and do not always work or fit correctly. At this point I will allow the pump to leak because I have already spent too much time dealing with the problem.
