Will this work on a regular swing door? I have an outswinging door onto my fire escape and need extra security. Thank you.

I don't think it will help on a swing door. It is made to be mounted on a sliding door. Your best bet is going to Home Depot and buying a latch mechanism that locks and will work on your swing door.

Good question. If the exterior panel is the operating door it is not an Andersen and I would not recommend this lock as it is specifically made for Andersen gliding doors.

Good question. This auxiliary lock can only be used on gliding doors. Andersen does not offer an accessory for the hinges doors. A product from another vendor would be needed. A quick search on Amazon I found (search Amazon for this part number) B00YQ79GC6 which depending on your situation (single or double doors) may offer some additional security for children.

Is there a left or right. Does it matter if the dooe closes left to right or right to left.

Does not matter. I have 2 sliders, 1 closes left the other right - no issues.
