(Re-) Introduction to French- A very basic reader for beginners
I purchased this book as a supplement for a High School French 2 class that needed something beyond vocab and grammar. It is a very simple book, full of easy vocabulary and grammar that becomes slightly more complicated as the stories progress. It has a chapter-by-chapter dictionary and some illustrations. I especially appreciate the cultural references that Isabelle makes throughout the book--she visits various places around Paris, which can then be explored by the students through other avenues. My only 'complaint' (hence 4 stars) is that the book is rather short. Half of the book is the chapter-by-chapter dictionary in the back, along with a short cultural glossary. However, the 10 chapters that exist are great opportunities for students to find success reading French, which is a good motivator for them. The level of the French is very basic and repetitive--designed this way to promote memorization of various phrases or vocabulary. If you are looking for a good supplement to the everyday grammar and vocabulary exercises, I would definitely recommend this book.

Students like it, perhaps not quite as well as "Brandon Brown Veut un Chien." This book does give the students an opportunity to learn a little about Parisian landmarks.

Reading this aloud with my 6th grader. Helpful, funny, wish I could more like this.
