replaced my old wi-fi router
My cable-modem has a built-in wi-fi router, but for some reason many of my older devices (blu ray player, some phones) could not see the network at all. Thus I had a Belkin dual-band router connected which provided a link for these older devices.+ Setup took literally 5 minutes tops.I plugged it in and followed the steps to connect via web browser and configure. Easy peasy!!+ The parts of my house where the connection was weak either connecting to the cable modem's wif-fi or the Belkin wi-fi are now full bars!!+ From the speed test screenshot I'm getting almost the same speeds as a wired PC I have plugged directly into the cable modem router. Woot!OVERALL:I'm able to repeat the cable modem's wi-fi connection and boost it so I have full bars where I didn't before and the connection is great.I couldn't be happier!!

Minimal if any benefit
I don't have a dead zone in my house but I do have an area that has a much weaker signal than I'd like. So, enter the WiFi range extender. The product description for this product says that it's a repeater, an extender, and a booster. That's a lot of hype - a repeater and an extender are essentially the same thing and apparently this product also amplifies (boosts) the signal. This extender and most like it takes an existing signal from a wireless router and rebroadcasts it to create a second network; you're signing into the "new" network and the Goodland sends that signal back to the router. That would have worked out fine for me since my biggest issue was streaming video to a smart television but sadly it didn't work out all that well. Installation was straight forward and I got it connected to my router without any problems. I did check the signal strength in my weak area before installing this device. Actually I took 10 separate readings - on average I was getting right around -69 dBm (decibel milliwatts) which simply doesn't cut it for video streaming. After I moved the Goodland to the problem area I signed into the new network and once again I tested signal. I got an average of -67 dBm which, again, doesn't come close to what I needed. I then moved it mid-way between the router and the problem area thinking (hoping?) that it would extend an already good signal farther. Sounds good in theory but that also didn't work.Bottom line, the Goodland added another WiFi network but didn't do much if anything to give me a stronger signal.

Useless....
Because our router is down the hall in a bedroom and we usually use our laptops and Kindles in the living room, I was interested in trying the Goodland AC1200 WiFi Range Extender. It turns out that our electronic devices are far better at picking up the router signal while in the living room than this device is when placed beside the router! It’s useless. These are the simple directions:Switch the repeater on and plug into an electrical outlet near your wi-fi router. Shift the power ON.Connect by pressing the WPS Extender button for 6 seconds and within 6 seconds the WPS router button. (I became an expert at this as I tried moving the extender around for better connectivity.) At this point our device always shows only one flicking connection indicator bar.Relocate halfway between the router and your dead zone. (This had no change in the connectivity; no matter where I put it I still get only one flickering bar.)Relocate closer to the router if this doesn’t work.Potential purchasers are advised to shop around a bit more before buying.

Works great once it's connected
We finally got this connected to our router but we had to reset the router to finally connect. We contacted support and while they were very helpful, what they told us to do didn't work for us. They said to push the button on the extender and push the WPS button on the router and it would automatically connect. We tried and tried but it wouldn't connect. So, we reset the router and then we got the extender to connect. Once connected, the extender works great. We didn't have a wifi signal outside in the front of the house and now we do. We can go out in the front and do yard work, or whatever, and have a good strong signal now. We have a knock off router so maybe that was the problem; it's not a Linksys or name brand router. Maybe that makes a difference? Wish this was easier to connect but now that it's connected it's working great for us.

One button setup only worked once
This wifi extender has been working great over the last several months while the kids have been on distance learning and need a constant and consistent wifi signal. It doesn't seem to extend the range so much as provide a stronger signal at the outer edges of the range on our existing wifi, which is a benefit. The reason for only three stars is that there is supposed to be a one-button setup that only worked at the initial set up. That first set up was fast and easy, but for some reason, the wifi became entirely disconnected at one point. And when we tried to reconnect the extender, the one step button simply would not connect and manually reconnecting was a long and tedious process.
