Osprey Aircraft of the Aces #53 FokkerD.VII Aces of World War 1 Part 1
This volume, by experts Norman Franks and Greg Van Wyngarden, covers German aces from the four elite Jagdgescwadern, including naval and Bavarian units, using what many regard as the best fighter of WWI. There are 40 profiles, the majority with photos of the actual aircraft. Interesting stories of the various Jastas and pilots (as well as photos) bring life to this reference. There is also a 1/32 scale 5-view line drawing of the Fokker D.VII. For historians and modelers, this excellant reference is a must have!! The only other thing is to get the companion volume, Fokker Aces of World War 1, part 2.

Great info on a great aircraft
A fantastic book. Very informative and corrects some info that was in error in Part 1. The color plates are alone worth the price of the book. I highly recommennd this book to anyone with even a remote interest in WW1 aircraft.

Wonderful illustration of the Era of Fying Aces
I won't duplicate Steven's review of this book as the main purpose of buying this book for me was to find information to help me build a flying scale model of the Fokker D V11. The many illustrations and diagrams are very good and this is an essential resource for anyone interested in this aircraft. The plane itself represented an important development in aviation.I do think one has to take care in admiring the pilots though. Young dare devils are ten a penny in any era and in aeroplanes not many survive. Of those that did many formed the nucleus of the Nazi Luftwaffe and Herman Goering, a successful flyer of these planes, became one of the vilest of Hitler's deputies. In this respect the book is pretty well balanced and factual - it is the reader who must take care not to get carried away.
