Great sounding, long lasting, coated strings.
I have used DR strings exclusively for years, these are awesome. They last considerably longer than non-coated strings and sound great. For anyone wondering if they feel any different than traditional strings, they feel identical. If you play with a pick you might experience some of the coating being scraped off but that seems obvious... or you could just be a real bass player and play finger style and not worry about that happening!

The "Taper" is WAY too far from the ball ends! Not for use with a traditional bridge.
The "Taper" is WAY too far from the ball ends! It ends an inch or so past my bridge saddles and over the bridge pickup. This varying thickness being well within the "vibrating" portion of the string creates weird overtone frequencies. It gets worse the higher up the neck you play. It sounds like it is out of tune when it is not. Or if a really bad chorus pedal is on. Perhaps these are intended for string-thru bodies or Rickenbacher type bridges where the thick part of the string ends up on the saddle like it should be. But with a traditional bridge these will not work properly. The ball to the saddle is just too short with a traditional bridge for these LONG tapered strings. I'll have to go back to the 45-105s that are NOT tapered. Those work really well. I just wanted to try the thicker gauge. Oh well...

Tone is great and easy on the fingers
I bought these for my bass player husband. He loved them. He said the tone was better and easier on his fingers! He has not had any breakage problems!

Not for me
These strings or not for me, But that’s partially my bad For not reading more closely. I was looking for nylon or whatever coated strings. I ordered too hastily. I can’t say much as I only had them on my bass for a day. In general I think DR strings are good quality. I just ordered the wrong thing.

Sleek looking and great sounding.
These strings look and sound great. They have held tune perfectly and although the black coating kind of wears off the strings where you pluck them, they feel sturdy and smooth and have a nice clear tone. I expect them to last awhile. Very happy with them.

Not a clear sounding string
I didn’t really care for this product. Most of the times I like DR strings but these seem to have way too many overtones. I don’t know if it was the tapered end or what but I took them off after one day.

Melodic Bass Players - Form An Orderly Queue Please
I would guess that if you are reading this, then you are either already a DR String user, or are tempted but are not quite sure whether to pull the trigger. If you're already a DR user and haven't yet tried these, then do. They are another tonal and sonic dimension to the already wide range of what DR have to offer. I've used them both through a live amp setup and through a amp sim/cab IR and they sound utterly gorgeous. To those who are not sure, maybe trying DR's for the first time, these strings are an absolutely lovely sounding string from the moment you put them on (remember to open the pack and read the instructions from DR, there's a difference with fitting these strings) but these are not the string you should judge DR "as a brand" by, these work really well on basses that have tons of mids as they knock some of that out and brighten everything else up. They feel nice under the fingers and the coating is not a wrap or anything like that, but more like something of the nature of plating or anodizing (like that, not actually that). The strings are tapered at the bridge end and as my bass is string thru body this tapered length allowed the string to pass through, go over my bridge and just start it's way infront of the bridge before tapering up to the full size of the string in question, the G is not tapered in this gauge. From what I can see this allows the strings to resonate better and sit nicer in the bridge pieces to allow for better adjustments to the action of the bass as well as account for trying to get the bend of the string on string thru body setups when the E has to exit the body and go over a bridge piece/roller at a radius the string winding may not like. The last bit of advice I'd give anyone looking to buy/use these is when trimming your ends for the machine heads, allow for about 2-3 winds on each machine head as the coating is a bit slippery and doesn't like less than that (Hi Beams are also like this). For the enjoyment and sound you get out of these strings the extra money is worth it, and I really don't like spending money on anything... ever. The initial bright sound is just so so lovely and when they settle down the sound you're left with is so warm and punchy yet versatile enough to get other sounds from them too.Bass used on: 1974 Gibson Grabber into Behringer UMC-22 into Amplitube 4 Ampeg SVT pack / also into Behringer BDi21 into HH 150w power amp 1x17" cabinet Celestion speaker
