Strong T pin, easy to use and save my money
The most commendable thing about this tile leveling tool is its T pin, because it is much tougher than the old version of stainless steel pin. The seller said that it is manganese steel. I think it should be.I am a professional cement worker. I have some experiences of remove Tpin to share with you1.When using the leveler, insert the T pin into the crevice of the tiles, turn left and right several times, and clean the cement under the tiles.2.4-6 hours or so to remove.3.Loosen the nut and press down the T pin to reduce the friction resistance with the tile.4.Do not fill the crevice of tiles with cement, otherwise it is easy to stick T pin in it.With my tips, you're not going to stick T pin in it anymore.

Great product, economical too. Little bit of technique required.
These babies do the job but there are some techniques to get them to work right, especially on their second and subsequent uses. The metal part that fits in the orange plastic handle tends to twist in it’s socket. If you hold the handle so the metal tab is pushed deeper into the socket and apply slight upward force as you turn the T to lock under the tiles. The idea is to keep the upper portion locked into the handle so it does not twist out of it’s slot. They work really well out of the box but the second use seemed to require the technique described above. I like the fact that ALL of the parts get taken out of the floor. Not sure if I like the voids of the plastic clip systems that leave parts in the floor permanently. Also bery economical as you can use them again and again. Just sure you clean them quickly after removing from the tiles.

Skim readers beware! There are 275 pieces, but only 24 whole units.
I do not do tiling every single day, but I do end up tiling about twice a month and have a fair amount of experience with the different leveling systems out there available to the public. That said, these were very easy to use and I would certainly use them again as a supplement to another leveling system. I think the price point is too high for a large tile project, but for a small room with large format tiles, these would be great.Only caveat is to not over crank these when attempting to level as I did chip the corner of a tile and had to replace it.

Not for everyone
I liked the idea of these helping me make my first tile job as nice as it could be. That being said, this was my first tile job and I think these aren't really for a first time lol. The tabs need at least 1/4" of mud behind the tile and, while that wasn't an issue, there are just certain things one should know and expect before using these. I ended up doing it by eye, level and feel. I have an old home, nothing is true so another reason these just didn't work.

Helpful tips when installing over Shluter Ditra...
Placing 6" X 36" porcelain tiles was assisting using these levelers. The tiles had a fairly large bow in the center of each tile which was easily leveled using this product. The challenging part was needing a third hand i.e. one to keep the tile from moving, 1 to hold the top tab in place (perpendicular to the grout line) and 1 to tighten the nut with the wrench therefore an assistant would be a great help when using this product. Note: The red tab holds the pin which needs to remain in place under the tiles and cannot move while tightening the black nut. I think this is where some reviewers had a problem thinking the red tab was used to rotate for tightening.I used a Shluter Ditra isolation / waterproof membrane which requires either and unmodified thinset or Schluter specialized modified thinset. These thinsets do not cure as fast as a modified thinset therefore require the pins to stay in longer. Premature removal of the pins could lead to your tiles shifting and bowing. After 5 hours I removed one pin at a time, cleared any thinset in the grout line that was under the unit, replaced the pin, rotated the red tab (pin) clockwise 3 times, rotated counterclockwise 3 times and then tightened with the wrench. Like other reviews stated, this clears the area around the pin of any thinset so you can come back to remove the pins at a later time. I removed the pins 15 hours after their initial use. I was able to do approx. 15 sq./ft. of tile using 48 of the leveling units (two packs of 24 ea.).

Perfect Leveled Tiles - No Lippage!
I'm no professional but i am very handy and picky. Now-a-days just because you hire a professional does not mean they will deliver professional results. NOBODY will care more than YOU about your project-- whatever that may be. With that said, after a bad experience I opted to carefully demo and redo a tiling job at my house. I chose this leveling system because no matter how good of a job you do manually you will never do a better job than a leveling system. This particular system is re-usable so if you plan on doing future tiling projects your return on investment will be quick. Also I like the fact that you don't leave any pieces in-between the grout lines like the plastic wedge system does. The only downside to this system is that you can't let the mortar dry without turning the pin to remove mortar around it. Usually at the 5-6 hour mark from the time you set the pin into the tile. I layed about 1000 SQFT of 8x48 inch porcelain wood looking tiles. These tiles naturally have a very slight buldge in the middle and a leveling system like this is crucial to avoid lippage. One piece of advise i have is to score the mortar with the actual leveling pin adjusted to the height of the tile on the last row you do for the day so that when you start tiling again the next day the pin will have the proper spacing to turn and lock, if you dont do that and the mortar dries you will not be able to set a pin on that row. You can also use an oscillator tool with a cement sanding attachment to score the mortar in the location needed. But all in all 5 stars! awesome product!
