I bought these so that I can more easily water and dead head 2 hanging baskets that are above a raised border. We tested them with no hanging basket attached to work out the mechanism and all seemed fine and then attached the baskets to them - all ok so far.A few days later there was some wind and one of them fell forward and then the raising mechanism wouldn't work at all, but the second one was still raising & lowering. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I was sat in the conservatory and heard a crashing noise - I looked up to see that the 'cord' had completely separated form the hook and my hanging basket came crashing down crushing all my plants underneath. I would have returned as faulty but there is no option for this on my account. If I could have given it 0 stars I would have.Its one thing having a faulty item, but totally out of order for an item to cause damage & costs as well - thank heavens that no-one was underneath and it was only plants that were flattened.

It must be my unlucky couple of days. My old hanging supports broke so I ordered two new ones from you. Very pleased with delivery came the next day.Took them out of the packing, not thinking for a minute they wouldn't work as usual threw iaway. I am a 81 year old widow so had to wait for a neighbour to put them up. Unfortunately they would not come down very low and they are two high for me to water. I have had several of these pulleys over the years and I have never come across this problem. Rather "peed off" to say the least.

Rusted very quickly, and the mechanism failed almost immediately. It would either fail to 'catch' putting the hanging basket back up, or fail to uncatch to bring it down. From the off it took 10-12 attempts in either direction, everytime I came to water. It's now permanently not catching at all. Great idea; pity it's useless. Very cheap though, so if you want to try your luck, you won't waste a fortune!!

I used to buy this kind of thing from a certain well known DIY and garden centre - which were OK but expensive at abouyt £7 each. These are a lot cheaper and seem sturdy enough.

I bought these as a present for a friend who saw the ones I was using and did not know such a thing was available. As she is disabled she struggled to water her hanging baskets and these make it so easy for her as they can be let down to a good level where you can also remove dead flowers, etc.

This item states that it will support up to a certain weight (can't remember what but more than some competitors). So far it seems to be strong and retracts well. I am using it to support quite a large hanging basket which is watered every day. Only time will tell how long it lasts - I have found other makes only do a couple of years at most.

To hang my hanging basket on, as I'm short it used to hang from chain attached to my bracket so could reach to water it when the chain broke I ordered this and it hangs at perfect height fo me, and a lot easier when I need to take down.

I left a review saying this system was good, and made life a lot easier as far as watering, deadheading etc. but yesterday around 10 days after using, the nylon separated from the mechanism bringing the basket crashing down!! More than half of the plants in the basket broken. It says it takes a weight of 1 to 15kilos, this is obviously not the case. Basket weighed 8k. I would certainly NOT recommend this product.
