Great Workout, High Requirement for Space
I was looking for a good Leg workout and found one of the workouts of Asylum 2 targeting the Legs. I purchased Asylum 2 with the Agility Ladder. Although I have done P90X, Insanity, P90X2 among other workouts, this one required at least two mat widths of space and did not work out for me. I found Shaun T to be very funny and made the workouts more enjoyable.Workouts include not only using the space in and around the ladder, but also behind the ladder planks. After rearranging my space to have two mat widths, I struggled with the mats separating from each other leaving me a space with no padding. Using one mat, I found my self moving the ladder on and off my so many times and planking sideways on and off the ladder to modify for my space that I wash't getting the full benefit of the workout. I returned the disks for P90X3, which so far (three workouts) is better suited for a smaller space.I also thought the agility ladder was not a good value. Although it was bright and of good quality, it was tough to keep it tight on my mat. I thought that using tape markers would have been a better solution.

A Great Addition to the Insanity Workouts!
This workout is a good complement to Insanity and Insanity Asylum Vol. 1. This packet only comes with the DVDs and the booklets (with a new meal plan). The jump rope and the agility ladder are assumed to have been purchased with Asylum Vol. 1 which does include these items (but you can purchase them separately). Overall, this is a must have for people who loved Insanity and Insanity Asylum.Pros:-Shaun T is hilarious! Shaun really ramps up the goofy jokes in Vol. 2.-More weight training and isolating muscle groups. The strength videos are broken up into upper body weight training, lower body weight training, and back and core. Because you really isolate muscle groups, Vol. 2 is much more effective at building muscle.-More focus on the areas that Vol. 1 missed. Biceps and lower abs especially are given a greater focus. Some of those really effective moves that you did in the Strength video of Vol. 1 are given more attention.-The agility moves are more complicated. Vol. 2 really works your coordination with more complicated moves, and the agility tutorial is great for learning them.-It follows a weekly schedule. In Vol.1, your rest days would never be on the same day. In Vol. 2, you get one stretch day and one off day/stretch day per week that are always on the same day of the week. The entire program is 4 weeks long, so it is a bit shorter than Vol. 1.-The fit test is in the Championship video so you will have a better idea about how much you have improved. You will be fatigued at the end of Chammpionship each time so it really tests how well you will be able to push yourself to the limit. As Shaun says, "the work doesn't start until you get tired".Cons:-You need more weights. In Vol. 1, you could get by with just one set of dumbbells. In Vol. 2, you probably need three different weights in order to do all of the workouts. For women, about 15lbs for Power Legs, 8-15lbs for Upper Elite, and 0-5lbs for Back and Six Pack. For men, about 20-35lbs for Power Legs, 15-30lbs for Upper Elite, and 5-10lbs for Back and Six Pack. The strength bands typically come in packs of three (low, medium, and high), so you should be fine with those.-Less cardio. The X trainer video is the main cardio workout, but it doesn't compare to the cardio workouts you will get in Insanity and Asylum Vol.1.The videos:-Agility tutorial - Great for learning the agility moves.-X trainer - A cardio and agility video but with some good strength moves.-Upper Elite - This workout is a beast! I could not do a single pushup at the end of the video because my arms had completely given out. It really isolates your arms and builds up muscle quickly.-Power Legs - A mix of agility, jumps and strength moves. Get ready for the burnout at the end because it is pretty tough.-Back and Six Pack - More focus on the abs than Back to Core in Vol. 1 and less focus on the back.-Ab Shredder - A short, but insane video! Really works your whole core.-Off Day Stretch - A few new weird stretches in this video, some are really good and some are not. Relief from Vol. 1 is probably better for a stretch day.-Championship - Not as hard as Game Day in Vol. 1, but it is a decent workout. The infamous speed skating is back, but it is not as hard as the one from Game Day.I highly recommend this product to people who love Insanity and Asylum. They are fun mix and match and the trilogy provides basically every type of workout you would ever need to get an insane body and great cardiovascular health. I don't think I will ever go back to another workout. Remember to follow Shaun's instructions to stay safe and modify the workouts if you are unable to do them at first.

Asylum Vol.1 vs. Vol.2
Asylum vol. 1 vs. Asylum vol. 2Shaun T has delivered an epic crosstraining series after Insanity and Insanity Max. Insanity is also cross-training, though it is oriented towards endurance, focusing little on muscle groups. This is the reason why I prefer Asylum.Asylum is based on precision, elite sports training abilities. This review is to detail the differences between Asylum vol 1 and Vol 2.In Asylum Vol.1, cardiovascular endurance is much stronger than in Vol.2.In Asyum Vol.1, you get a complete body workout with each video, concentrating in skills such as agility, speed, power, and overall endurance. In Asylum Vol.1, you develop a solid core, strong arms and legs, though building muscle isn't part of the routine. In Asylum Vol.2, you concentrate each exercise session into muscle groups. The X trainer is not the exception. In the latter speed and agility is enforced, though upper body, especially pushups, are grueling. This gives you the advantage of actually building muscle rather than just getting ripped.POWER ARMS: Day 2 is compromised by hitting the arms efficiently, and profoundly. You'll be making a devilish amount of assited pushups, combined with dumbels and endurance training. The drawback is that this video follows the Xtrainer, which involves your arms as well, leaving you weaker and in pain for the following day. Your shoulders will burn INSANELY.POWER LEGS: Day 3. I would NOT call this video power legs, but rather Core-Cardio. Legs aren't worked out as much as in other insanity videos. Yes, you do perform power-jumps in heaping amounts, but the problem of power jumps is that it involves other muscle groups. In my opinion, power legs fails to FOCUS power mainly on the legs. It's a great workout, though it does not target the legs as good as power arms targets the arms.SIX PACK AND BACK: Great abs and back workout. Great muscle targeting. The progression from the latter workout to the present is great. Your legs are a little soar and you have a whole day to rest your arms. This leaves your biceps primed for pull-ups.CHAMPIONSHIP DAY: Good, not best. Game day in Asylum vol.1 is much more difficult. Some exercises are good, but take too long to perform. During Game Day you targeted various group muscles in a logical progression. Championship day feels disjointed at times.**That said, if you're trying to decide whether you should buy Asylum vol.1 or vol.2, I would say it depends on what you wish for your body. If you wish to compliment a sport you're playing, or gain as much endurance as you wish: go for Vol.1.If you're looking for a targeted muscle group cross-training madness session that will build muscle, endurance, and agility, go for vol.2.I own both, and I rather do Vol.2. I do, however, substitute POWERLEGS for my own version of Power Legs, targeting this muscle group with much more affinity. I hope this helps you in deciding which Asylum to buy.
