Acts like a refurbished unit ribbon locks up won’t go from left to right like it supposed to keys don’t always go all the way in the hit the ribbon I’ll be looking for a new one

This item is terrible. We bought it for our son's birthday. He's 9 and wanted a typewriter. The machine isn't well built, it's very clear where it will break when changing the ribbon. The keys do not type well. The machine adds random spaces. It's very difficult to line up the paper properly. Please listen to all the other reviewers and don't purchase this item. It's garbage. You're better off buying a used typewriter and taking your chances on whether or not that works then buying this piece of crap.

Works great! Got for my daughter and she loves it.

Got this for my daughter who wanted a typewriter. Super cute color, and well made—she loves it. The only shortcoming is that like what some of the other reviews have said, some of the keys don’t consistently strike hard enough, so her writing often has gaps in some of the words and overall appearance. Hence the lower rating than I otherwise would have given it. She writes short stories and journal entries, so it ultimately does the job. Given that there are very few options out there, we’re satisfied enough, but for the price, it should work through and through.

This is absolute GARBAGE. I ordered the typewriter and it arrived in the box unopened defective. The cord that is used to advance the bar was severed, so I was unable to use it at all. I requested a replacement to be sent. The replacement arrived defective. Only the top half of the letters would print on the paper. I replaced with new roll of ink and the same issue existed.. Don't bother wasting your money.

We bought this for our son, an aspiring poet, for his 34th birthday. He just tried it out yesterday (3 1/2 months anfter receiving it) and it is not working properly. Disappointing and am hoping the seller will replace it!

Capital Letters didn't print, not even with the new ink. Royal Classic Manual Typewriters supposed to be good!!! but not this one. Some of the keys didn't go all way to the paper. The ink didn't print bold enough that you can see it.

It’s a lovely item and it works

I’ve wanted a new typewriter since I left mine when I moved out of my parents house 20yrs ago. How hilarious is that!?? I bought this one because of the royal brand and I love it. It’s seriously beautiful. I’m definitely an aficionado with zine nostalgia but I think this would be so amazing for any burgeoning typist. I love it!
