Not the Bismarck sinker but still cool WWII biplane
Not many Allied biplanes made an impact in WWII but the Swordfish was one of the few. Regardless of weapons bombs, rockets or torpedos , the Swordfish played an important role in British naval victory. The Tamiya model is not the one that sunk the Bismarck but is still excellent in every respect. Well molded wings and weapons make this one a challenge but worth the effort. Give this one a 5 for excellence.

Outstanding Detail
With the etched metal accessory kit that goes with this you'll wind up with a museum quality display piece.

One thing lacking
I was expecting a torpedo to be included with this kit along with what3ver other parts necessary to mount one. This was primarily a torpedo bomber.

A very detailed though small model
I have enjoyed building this one. It is not for beginners with all its small and finely detailed parts, more-so if you get the laser etched pieces for the guy wires (I recommend that you do!). Typical of Tamiya there are lots of internal details to the cockpit and engine, much of which gets hidden upon sealing up the fuselage halves. It does give a view as to how the plane was constructed and used... and how tight it was to have three people in there. Take your time building this. Read the instructions ahead and make your choices early about using the photo etched parts or not, and if you wish the wings folded or not. My only wish would be that it was a little larger in scale.

A Challenging and Beautiful Model Airplane
Building the Fairey Swordfish took time, patience, attention to detail and careful dry-fitting of parts with multiple connection points, but the result was an all-time favorite model airplane that I can't imagine ever being beat. Ordering the aftermarket kit was a worthy additional expense to create the bi-plane rigging. This was a challenging build, but the finished kit is colorful, detailed, and fascinating to look at---what more could you ask for? I recently took it off my display shelf to hang as if in flight and it looks even better!

Fun plane to build
I enjoyed the model. Some of the pieces didn't quite fit and it seemed like the paint had difficulty sticking to the plastic (I don't know why). Otherwise, the plane came together quite nicely and the instructions were excellent.

Not your typical Tamiya fit
While admittedly it is a beautiful kit in the end, the kit did not come together like I am used to from Tamiya. I took my time, was extra careful, and still ended up doing a lot of tweaking just to make the model fit together as it should. Rather disappointing as I have come to appreciate Tamiya's superb engineering. All in all, I was able to pull it off. But be prepared for overcoming some fit issues.I have included some pics of my finished product. Enjoy!
