Best laser out there
Best laser out there. This is my second one. My first one was a PLS3 and it lasted me around 10 years.

Very high quality, good laser focus, but I wish that I'd bought a line level
Without question, this is a well built unit. The quality of it is very high, and I'm pleased with that part of it. The lasers are sufficiently bright for my needs, and they sure seem to be accurate. If you're looking for a point level, this might just be the ticket. After getting it and using it, I realized that what I really wanted was a line level. I don't do commercial work but rather wanted a level for home use. For what I want to do, having a line drawn across a wall is a lot more useful than the 5-point operation of this unit. That was my lesson learned from this, but I'd say consider the type of level that will really help you out.If you know that you want a 5-point level, though, I think that this is a good unit. The hardware itself works well, is high quality, and comes in a very (but kind of large) carrying case. It's not the best fit for me, nor do I think it's a great fit for most homeowners, but it's a quality unit.

Great tool
The PLS 5R Laser Level is a very nice piece of equipment. It is compact, yet sturdy, with bright laser spots that are visible even in bright sunlight. The lock mechanism for the laser is firm, but simple to move. The laser shuts off when it exceeds that 4-degree margin with the device in the unlocked position. The laser comes with a handy pouch with a top flap that closes with Velcro. The pouch isn't extremely well padded which is probably why the entire kit comes in a bright yellow container that is the size of a small tool box. Hubby felt that the hard-shell storage container could have been half the size. The pouch also has a belt loop to attach it to a utility belt, though I'm not sure this is a tool most would need to have that handy. The kit also comes with a floor stand, a magnetic L-bracket, a pendulum target, and a reflector target. The thumb screws on the floor stand and L-bracket are standard, so the laser will fit on any standard tripods.I'm not sure that I could put this through the tests that a frequent user would be able to but for what we will be using it for, it works great.Hope you found this helpful.

Point vs. plane laser
This PLS 5R is a 5 point laser. My other laser is a Bosch GLL 3-80 which projects lines in planes, but it's almost double the cost. The PLS 5R is good for things like framing and electrical, and the GLL 3-80 with projected planes is better for tile and painting. The self-leveling pendulum feature is very convenient, both will self-level as long as you are within +/- 4 degrees. This is a must-have feature for any laser level. Both use alkaline AA batteries. Since I tend to store the laser level for a long time, it's nice not having to wait to charge (just pop in some fresh batteries and go).Overall, I find the Bosch GLL 3-80 more useful because the entire planes are projected and not just points. But it depends on what you're building (I am doing a lot of interior decor work right now). The PLS 6R also projects lines. I would recommend that one if you can spend about $100 more.
